Problem with that is, now we'll all be paranoid about all the TBA's and mysterious gaps in the lineup, right through until the Monday morning after the festival!

Also, if they end up doing an unannounced thing, it means a short set, on an overcrowded stage and mainly comprised of the new album.

Emily said in her 6 Music interview at the NME awards that some 'secret' slots would be in the middle of the night and not be immediately obvious to defuse rumour and presumably lower the chance of huge overcrowding. If Radiohead are indeed playing a unannounced set, I'd be surprised if the slot is clear at all.

Whoa, easy tiger. No need to go quoting my own post back at me, dude.

It wasn't a pop at Adele. Nor a clarion call for Radiohead (they will tour, I will go see them).

It was an expression of genuine befuddlement that she'd *want* to play that headline slot (given what we [think we] know about her).

Sorry, I just thought it'd be an amusing way to frame a point that you could say Radiohead won't be an act that keeps a general audience engaged for the duration either. Nothing against you. :P

No probs.

In addition to my point though, if any artist in the world has got the clout play but on their own terms at the moment it's Adele. When and for however she wants.

EE's comments give me the weird impression something is gonna be a bit different this year.

Now I might be way off here but is there no possibility of Radiohead either subbing any of the headliners as weird as that would seem or even being a other stage headliner?

The only day I could of previously seen Radiohead as a headliner is the Friday and now Muse (a band that has sold less than Radiohead) are playing that slot. I can't see Radiohead being big enough for the Saturday headliner but for a lot of people would be a great alternative to Adele on the other stage.

Surely that arrangement would be better for them than a secret slot somewhere.

Or possibly as part of a Bowie tribute ;)

Sure but I don't see why her own terms would be to play earlier or play for less time than she does on her tour when there doesn't seem to be any positives to her for doing that.

I think Emily's comments were just hyperbole. I can't even remember what they were but it was just that the Sunday legend was 'like a fourth headliner', and someone they're really excited about, and now it's been confirmed to be ELO.

Hmmmn. Yeah.

Ultimately things seem very uncomplicated with the acceptance that Radiohead won't be playing.

The sooner Adele is announced the sooner the nonsense "Adele could play a lower slot" posts will stop.

The only conceivable way that woman would not be last on is if they shoved a dance act playing a much shorter set on afterwards. Which is unlikely. And by dance act I don't mean Radiohead, Radiohead fanboys.

Yeah it's gotta be hasn't it? They're not just gonna be slotted between Blossoms and Slaves on the JP. Christ I hope this leaks early cause it'd kill me knowing I missed it

This might sound utterly pathetic, but I have literally just awoken from a dream (its saturday alright...) in which Radiohead played some mysterious part of Shangri La at 3am and I missed it... All my mates were bragging about it back at camp.

Come to think of it, this was a fucking nightmare.

I can still see a co-headline deal happening. Adele playing a full headline slot just makes no sense to me. 2 hours is too much even for the most ardent Adele fan. Perhaps Radiohead play before her for the 2 hours then Adele comes on to headline but with a shorter set.

Adele headlines but plays first & the BBC show it on BBC1 (they love her & she gets massive exposure). Then Radiohead close out the night.

Two hours of Adeles dreary ballads may seem grim for a lot of us on here but she has sold thousands of tickets for her tour so there is obviously loads who think differently.

Saying that, surely there is some more uptempo songs on her album.I doubt her entire two hour show will be one paced.

Unless of course my missus dumps me on the Saturday afternoon,in which case I'll be watching Adele with a big tub of Ben and Jerrys surrounded by my friends telling me that 'I deserve better' and 'she's always been no good for me'

That would clash with the Euros... surely starting later would be more exposure?

Wait, now we've got to take the football into account too? How are we supposed to make things up without knowing if the Beeb are showing a game that night?

It is legally agreed that Adele is the headliner  but she records her set from one of her indoor arenas but with a specially built

pyramid on stage.

The bbc show the Adele  set wheras Glasto gets Radiohead but we still all have to agree that Adele was the headliner

Thom York to dress up as Adele and perform mash ups of their songs.

I can't wait for hits such as;

Rolling in the Plastic Trees

Hello Creep

When we were high and dry

Someone like Kid A

Set fire to the Pyramid (song)

Make you feel no surprises

and of course...

Planet Skyfall

If Adele and Radiohead are both playing, maybe this is wishful thinking but wouldn't Radiohead be more likely to headline?

Yes, Adele is definitely bigger, but Radiohead will likely want to headline more. They've already done a secret set once as a band and once with Thom/Jonny - it's unlikely they would do this again, especially considering safety issues at the Park. They are actually in a touring cycle now as opposed to the other times. They would have much more of a light show then Adele and probably a longer set too. Adele's set would go more with the TV audience a bit earlier in the evening. Adele might be a bit more worried about the pressure of headlining. Radiohead would probably be as popular amongst the Glasto crowd, or at least not that far off.

Apart from how many records Adele sells, if both bands genuinely, genuinely are playing (which admittedly we don't know as yet), then a lot of other factors point to Radiohead headlining.

Another thing to consider is that both acts may be attending, but only one may be playing. Radiohead are known to love the festival anyway, Adele may attend/guest or do something. Or the information about Radiohead may be actually about them doing 2017 and someone got wires crossed?

I sort of hope if they're not headlining Radiohead don't play at all, as it would completely remove 2017 out of the equation.

I'd be extremely certain Depeche Mode definitely won't headline Glastonbury 2017, based on nothing but common sense

Mate I have posted on here long enough. When have my posts ever been based on common sense? :-)

They were strongly rumoured for Glastonbury and a bunch of other festivals worldwide until their tour got cancelled. I think easty might get his wish on that one, though I could see them being easily dissuaded by IOW and a bag of cash or something.

Can't see Depeche Mode chasing the cash and playing IOW over Glasto. When you get to that level does cash really matter? They seen to have a bee in their bonnet about not getting the credit they deserve at home. The way to put that right is by playing Glasto and not IOW

You're all moaning about the Muse announcement. I've got my head in my hands over the T in the Park 'Radio 1 Summer of Dance' stage. I've had it, they can keep my deposit. I'm trying for the Glastonbury re-sale instead. Gonna try and get all the help I can. And I don't care about Muse either. Putting things into perspective for all of you here.

I can help resale day.
