Never seen a WH headliner. With Sunday having Coldplay and BMTH, Im  wanting WH to pull out something special for my Sunday....

Last time I went (2014) I saw Disclosure at WH on Sunday, great upbeat way to end the weekend.

My other 2 headliners were both Park - Metronomy & Mogwai. Given this year's expected line-up I expect I still won't have seen a Pyramid headliner by the time I come back...

Definitely can't see Radiohead on Other myself. They may have apparently tried to get Metallica on there in 2014, but it didn't happen and what with last years Other headliners being your usual as-expected sizes/acts (to a boring degree) I can't quite buy that they'd have a fully fledged headliner on there (although I'm of course very much hoping to be proven wrong)

I'm all in on this idea. The only problem is surely the Other stage would be too crowded? Isn't it 40,000 or something like that? Surely there would be more people than that seeing Radiohead. Or maybe us Radiohead fans are overestimating their popularity these days?

This just raises more questions than answers :P

i've no proof whatsoever but I feel as though you could get more than 40k in the vicinity of the other stage.

id say more like 50-60. god help any other act that was playing at the same time as the proposed adele radiohead clash, you'd think that 80% or more of the entire site would be at one or the other.

what would help is, if they do bill radiohead in any slot other than pyramid headliner, that they reinforce the fact it will be very new album heavy. In fact they could even do the new album and nothing else, if that was made abundantly clear. i think a lot would steer clear if it was going to be 90-100% new album

That RnL lineup is absolute dog, minus a few acts that I'd take. I would have thought now V festival has gone complete shite (pop), they'd have been able to pick up the smaller bands that would usually play V and put together a half decent slog of shit.

Also, in reply to the person who posted saying Radiohead are touring with New Order in September.. Can we all go unrealistic with our posts again and say Radiohead to headline Other against Adele with New Order subbing them? :P

Radiohead can sub New Order. They will be able to cheer everyone up again after Radiohead have been on.

is your info for new order to headline other or just to play other on saturday

my info is that New Order are headlining the Other.

I was simply pointing out that RH headlining Other against Adele wouldn't be unrealistic. From what the fest has tried to do before we know its within what's possible.

I definitely don't think it'd be THAT album heavy - it'd be your usual modern day Radiohead show which isn't exactly the most casual viewer friendly thing as it is. Having them headline Other would be a good way to stop people moaning about the lack of 'hits' etc, but I still don't see it happening (and obviously Neil's NO info suggests that it isn't)

I think it could easily work.

There are ALOT of people keen to see adele. While the whole "Radiohead vs Adele" thread is suggesting that Radiohead would be a better choice, the demographic of these boards has shown itself to be a relatively poor representation of the whole "glasto attendee demographic" (see Hot Chips poplarity on this board vs their crowd at last years festival).

Adele will have a huge crowd becauae its Adele. Shes as big as acts get these days and that popularity will manifest itself in a stonking attendance for her. Radiohead playing opposite offer something completely different. The x to adeles y. The + to her -. Its a perfect split id say.

Even then, Radiohead are not for everyone. At all. Their popularity is less than Adeles and they would almost certainly draw a smaller crowd than her, on novelty factor alone. There would then be many thousands of people who like neither of those acts and would much rather enjoy the multitude of other acts on at that time. It makes sense to me but more likely than not, wont happen.

from the radiohead perspective, why headline the second stage this year when you can headline the pyramid in 2017? Unless they plan to be completely finished touring by then.

Why wouldn't they have just been booked this year then when their tour fits right around it? Unless another UK fest has got them as an exclusive, it doesn't make sense that they'd wait until last year (and I don't believe that Glastonbury wouldn't have tried for them)

I'd probably go watch 20-30 mins of Adele then end up being one of those 'many thousands'.

and that would be unrealistic, why?

Don't forget that Glasto tried to arrange Metallica headlining the Other while Prince headlined the Pyramid. Adele against Radiohead would be much the same.

The difference between Metallica headlining The Other and Radiohead headlining The Other, is that while they are both massive bands, Metallica are from a genre not usually represented by Glastonbury, meaning less Glastonbury punters are likely to wanna see them.

Even if Radiohead were headlining the Pyramid this year, they would get the smallest crowd out of Muse and Coldplay, so I really don't see a danger of them overcrowding the Other against Adele. I don't see any way they would get 50,000 people away from Adele and all of the other stages.

nah. it's all about the acts against them. Adele would ensure Radiohead a much smaller crowd.

You're probably safe.  At this stage I think we Radiohead fans would take a headline set on any stage over a half-arsed afternoon set or no appearance at all.

New Order into Radiohead on Other Saturday night would be something to savour. Even though Other is shite.

Not likely though, not in the slightest.

It just wouldnt happen. In the group i go with, i would estimate that given the option of Adele or Radiohead, 50% would choose adele, 30% would choose something else and 20% would choose Radiohead.

I agree it's unlikely. I am struggling to see Radiohead fitting in anywhere other than that slot, but I don't think it will happen. I don't think they're gonna play.

  I promise I'm not hoping!

It's not likely and the Other vibe does suck generally.  The sound there at headliner o' clock *can* be amazing though.  See: Portishead.  *sigh*
