Are Radiohead not more of a band that you would go and appreciate at a gig on a Tuesday night and maybe ask the pretty wallflower out of the office, who wears the brown cardigans if she would like to go with you?

Me personally, I go to gigs and festivals to enjoy myself. There is nothing about Radiohead that I find remotely fun. I could not think of anything worse really than it being peak time on a Saturday night and everyone is stood about, stroking their chins 'appreciating' the music.

Thats not to say bands like Radiohead do not have their place. Everyone needs a bit of solemnity and self reflection at some time in their lives. I can perfectly understand someone sitting at home, having some me time and listening to Radiohead.

It is the idea of saving up all year, being on the razz all day and then standing there listening to Radiohead that I find a bit alien really.

For me, not at all.  They have such an immense, complex sound that I can't imagine anything better than being overwhelmed by the chemicals in my body and the power of the music.  I saw them on a weeknight in a seated venue a few years ago, and whilst it sounded brilliant, it felt like such a waste to not be off my noggin at the time

Its a bit of a love hate thing I have going on with Mozza. I think he is a bad prick and when I went to see him live last year he bored me shitless.

On record I find him quick, sharp and witty. The smiths have this reputation for being miserable and morose. I do not find them miserable in any way. Yes suffer little children is really sad and a little too close to home, How Soon Is Now is dark also. I find The Smiths kind of uplifting and that maybe Johnnys guitar work although I think Mozza's lyrics are funny rather than depressing..

I am not into Johnny's solo stuff yet I think some of Morriseys own stuff is absolutely majestic (lot of shit as well though)

Ah ok. I just wondered how you felt about an arch-whiney-arguably-self-involved miserabalist who's capable of putting on shows inspiring of utter chaotic delerium.

You see where I was going with this.

Who's likely to be on the Other against Adele? NO?

Aye, TBC as headliners on the Saturday.

Calling it now: Adele v New Order v Slayer v Ice Cube v Underworld v James

I think they are a bit of a Marmite band Stu. I have always had it in my head that they are a bit of a 'rich kids who have never had anything to moan about, finding something to moan about' band. From what I have heard they are extremely talented and they should applauded for the experimentation they do. The music has never been for me though really. When they were in their so called prime, I had Black Grapes 1st album on repeat for god knows how long. Black Grape is about as far away from Radiohead as you can possibly get.

Like I said, clashes permitting I will give them a go in Berlin.

I kind of got where you were coming from. The thing is I find no similarity between The Smiths and Radiohead. It is Joy Division who I find most like Radiohead out of the bands I am most acquainted with. Here and there it is fine yet listening to them for a prolonged period would do me in. There's no way I would go and watch Joy Division headline anywhere at a festival and it is the reason I have not been to see Hooky do any of his Joy Division karaoke gigs (Went to the New Order one and quite enjoyed it)

Radiohead piss on owt Mozzers done post Marr.

Everyday Is Like Sunday, Suedehead and Last Of The Famous International Playboys are stone cold classics. Might not have the genius of Johhny Marr or the experimentalism of Radiohead, but as pop songs they are pretty damn good.

Where are you imaging james to be playing in this little equation of yours?

JP.

Purely speculative of course, but there was a soupcon of info in the James thread and I could see them taking the newly invented 'shite in the 90's, just as shite now' spot that Suede landed with aplomb last year.

I'd be at Cube if it came off.

Not up against New Order anyway. That would be a clash only V festival would think rational.

If they play which would be a big shock, I think they would be the singalong band of a late afternoon on the Pyramid.

I think Adele's a great choice of headliner.  She's the biggest artist in the world, she's a 'new' festival headliner and so expanding the pool, she's female (and we all agree that there is a lack of female headliners) and she crosses several demographics.

I'd love it to be Radiohead but I think Adele's a great booking for the festival.

There is one major problem here  - ADELE IS NOT FUCKING ROCK 'N ROLL - she is music for Valentine's Day compilations. SHE IS A BETTER LOOKING VERSION OF SUSAN FUCKING BOYLE - The perfect gift for Mother's Day and in all honesty the most improbable rock festival headliner of all time. I blame that arsehole Cowell for this. He has almost ruined British culture.

Singalong to all that stuff off their new album? They're notorious for refusing to pander to the Sit Down brigade, and whilst it's commendable that they push on with new stuff (even though I think it's mostly shite), they'd die on their arse if they didn't play a greatest hits.

Because Coldplay are so rock and roll.

The festival sets I have seen mate, they have generally played the hits. They did not play sit down at Castlefield and they may not have played it at the MEN on their previous arena tour. I am sure they played at last year though at the arena and they deffo played it at Delamere Forest.

It is Born Of Frustration and How Was It For You that seem to have gone missing (although they played BOF last week in Manchester)

I think if they were to play then they would play the hits and a splattering of new ones.
