Headliners 2016

Seems daft to have booked the 2017 headliners now. Lots can change by then. I get the year in advance, but 2 really seems quite silly.

i remember inverviews with whoever is in charge of Reading festival saying that big bands tend to put out feelers up to 3 years in advance as to what shows to do.ย

Could FM have any chance of coming over to do a bit of a one-off to boost album sales after making all that money last year? One last boost to the retirement funds?

ย

i'd personally say they're out of the question now. 2014 seemed like the most likely year but illness unfortunately took them out of the picture, and this year they went another way. IF there are only two new Glastonbury headliners, i don't think they're one of them

Radiohead, Muse and Prince for 2016.

Coldplay, Oasis and the Foo Fighters for 2017.

Based on absolutely nothing.

Based on Neils new information I'm guessing, Foos are ow a SR for next year.

I don't think myself that Radiohead, Coldplay or Muse will play next year. The only one I think had a chance is Radiohead.

Reckon this is all a load of tosh before ticket day

ย

I don't think you're wrong there Matt.ย

Don't think it will happen, but I do remember U2 stating they would do outdoor shows for the next album (Innocence and Experience being two separate ones). So that could make them possibilities for 2016 or 2017, depending on album release date of course.ย

ย

As you say though, aside from Foos I can't think of many being booked this far in advance. Certainly not for 2017.ย

That's a lot different, though, to what Eavis claims, isn't it? Plus, banking on new albums being successful for up and coming acts 2, 3 years in advance is so very risky, isn't it?

maybe said new acts are already extremely successful/headliner size but just haven't headlined Glastonbury yet. Glastonbury isn't like Reading and Leeds where they have an up and coming act headline every year - a lot of the time, all three headliners are already well established

Killers, about time they had another go with a decent sound system?

Coldplay or U2 absolutely no thanks.

Another female headliner maybe Swift, Gaga, Adele

ย

largely irrelevant these days, much like Kings Of Leon. would be a stale booking if made. doomed to headline TITP and V every few years

Coldplay will do it again in the next few years. that's just a given

and Emily has said that Adele is at the top of their wishlist, so as soon as she's ready to do such huge gigs, i guess she'll be booked
