Indeed, and Adele will be a decent alternative to that tripe ... also I expect something interesting will be on WH too.

New Order on Other,  and Earth Wind and Fire on WH my guess. So LCD Soundsystem sub and I can go get lost somewhere early

I've heard people describe Foals as many things, but not bland.

Curious what you think of as not bland?

I've been a fan of Foals since their first record and I've seem them live a number of times, but they are hardly the most exciting act in the world. I can completely understand how someone would think they are bland.

Foals are anything but bland. What do you class as not bland?

To be fair to Foals, I haven't heard much by them.Only that song today and another one a few weeks ago when they were first announced for Reading.

I normally switch off when they come on but I had a listen to see if they'd be worth watching at Reading, wasn't bowled over by what I heard but then again they're not my type of thing so I'm probably not the best to judge.

Whether they are considered bland or not within their genre, I'll be at the Pit or the NME stage when they play.

What song was it? If it was My Number then yeah it's bland.

I know others will point about Muse being bland...

Really??!! there are a lot of ways to describe Foals but don't think bland is one of them, they are fantastic live band

Ive not heard anything on record that I have been impresed by, but someone posted something live on here and that was good. The drummer was really giving it some.

When the line up is released, I might delve a bit deeper incase I think I watch them

Yep. Here's 2014 and 2015 lineups for the poetry & words stage. John Cooper Clarke is a bit too big a draw for it though and, as you can see, he's played Saturday night on the Cabaret Stage last two years. He's got a gap in his schedule that would fit a return there as well.

Long term lurker, but had relevant info to post so thought I'd chime in. I'm a huge fan of Buddy Wakefield spoken word/poetry. I noticed on his tour dates Glasto is clearly blocked off. http://buddywakefield.com/tour-info/ FYI.

If you have never checked him out..

I watched Foals from the sidelines waiting for Portishead in 2013. I only knew a couple of their songs and I thought they were excellent.

Could it be another example of their recorded work not capturing the energy of their live performance. This does seem to be a problem for many bands that's only getting worse in my opinion.

I've still not found a way into Foals. That's probably because they're simply not for me, but I think I'm going to keep trying, mainly because of the extreme love for them on here.

I'm jealous, because right now, I don't get them. To me, they seem unremarkable with a slightly annoying singer. I think I'm missing something.

Completely agree with you. I know the music is very clever and all but the singer gets right on my tits.

Tried watching them a couple of times and just didn't get it. Loud fast drums, loud fast bass, loud fast incomprehensible bollocks from the singer.

Nah, not for me Clive.

I hadn't even noticed the music was very clever.

Mr 2 hats sums it up for me - to me  they are hipster indie landfill along with Basille , 2 door cinema etc

and  his own band fit his words after the Brits

"The music industry's a bit like Crufts," complained Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis. "It's all about hairstyles and who's got the best training and pedigree."

"In guitar music, it definitely feels like there's been a brain drain. There's a lot of [bands] dressing up in parents' clothes and acting out pastiche-like tropes. I'd like to see a return of edgy, unpredictable, wild guitar music."

I am open to be 'converted' IF they are edgier live .

You definitely don't know what a hipster is if those are your examples of hipster bands - two of the most mainstream/poppy bands out there.

Foals also don't look like they dress in their parents' clothes.
