Coldplay > Adele Tbh I'd enjoy half of Coldplay's set much more than Adele but I couldn't give a fuck how they go down. Everyone there will love it and there's nothing interesting about it. I think most of the big hitters are at the end of her setlists aren't they? I'm not an Adele fan but I don't actively dislike her and would be interested to see how it goes. Obviously if anything I like gets announced for the lower stages I'll be elsewhere, but it's nice to have a plan in place just in case. On Sunday so far I have nothing. I'd have checked Coldplay out if it was their 2011 setlist but what they play now just looks disgusting. If you have to leave New Order because they are naff then I will buy you a bottle of your choice.

dannygrif
Also went to see Adele last night as a very casual fan because my friend managed to get cheap tickets - I like a couple of songs from 19 and 21 but haven't given the new one a listen. I have to say she absolutely smashed it, wasn't expecting it at all. Her voice genuinely is incredibly impressive and the between-song chatter she had with the audience was hilarious and very endearing. She also said she's changed her views on touring and loves it and wants to leave a legacy for her child... Looking more and more likely for Glastonbury now imo (if that's even possible). Does that mean New Order are going to be shipped off to Paris to be replaced by the musical equivalent of Paul Pogba?

EZYSEY
I'll be quiet happy if Adele and New order headline Saturday. Means I can get ravey early without the nightmare of trying to get into places after 11pm. Friday night will be Muse (for the misses) and will wait and see whats on for Sunday before making a decision.

Am I alone in thinking that LWTUA is one of the most overrated, lauded songs in (relatively) recent pop music history, and that the band that spawned it was never as good and influential as every muso might suggest. #TeamJoyDivisionNeverReallyWereAnyCopDiscuss Ben

I really like LWTUA as a song and would turn it up on the wireless if it came on but it does get a little overstated and I think of Joy Division the same. To make it clear I am a fan but sometimes the eulogies are a bit much.
CaledonianGonzo
They're pretty good in and of themselves, but their influence on a generation of tombstone-voiced post punk revivalists has mostly been malign. See also Oasis - it's not so much their one half decent record that's the problem, it's what came after.

The muso benny respect I had just dwindled somewhat Transmission, She's lost control, Atmosphere, Isolation, Dead Souls, New Dawn Fades. All belters. Especially Atmosphere and dead souls. Believe it, baby! I frickin' hate She's Lost Control! I'm not disputing that JD were 'important'. I'm not contesting that they brought something new and vibrant to the music scene. I'm not in any way saying that they were not credible and had genuine integrity and belief in what they were doing, I just don't think their songwriting was in anyway of the quality that history has bestowed upon them. And, whilst I am a great fan of many unconventional frontmen/women/singers, Ian just doesn't do it for me. You don't have to be Pavarotti to sing, but it should be either nice to listen to or interesting, or both. For me IC ticks neither box! A comparison - Willy Vlautin from Richmond Fontaine. 'Good' singer? - not really. Interesting singer? - I could listen to him all day. Shergar for Epsom, Red Rum for Aintree. Don't lose faith in my muso credentials, scruffy - I am still as brilliantly insightful and knowledgeable as you always thought! I just don't like Joy Division. It's OK. Really!
