Amy Lawn
Kendrick Lamar should headline other stage or west holts one night next year The West Holts field would cave in.
Zoo Music Girl
2010 I think, missed both that (for something, can't recall) AND the set in 2011 for Moz. The Park set is a difficult one. First time performing a crowd-unfriendly album (KoL isn't supposed to be crowd-friendly, so that's not a huge criticism), in the pissing rain, with a much reduced stage show. I'm not that surprised it went down like a lead balloon. Pyramid headline show (with stage show and all the other stuff) is a different animal, and whilst there would be a degree of 'play Creep' for a minority of the crowd, I think a Glastonbury crowd would be more receptive than other festival crowds are. Surely? It was 2011 and despite being a big fan I thought that set was shit. Couldn't hear or see anything and the weather was pants. Pyramid would be an entirely different beast. I don't get the argument that a few knob heads waiting for Creep would ruin it. Move away and stand somewhere else. How would it affect the show in general? Radiohead are big enough to rise above that and deliver.
The Nal
Can we have Ringo next year? Off topic but is Ringo skint? Releasing books and advertising shoes? I thought he was given a decent publishing cut from Lennon and McCartney in spite of him nothing to do with the actual writing. Hes worth about 300 million. Hes an oddball. CaledonianGonzo
Madonna played the first night of her tour last night. The setlist still isn't a hits-fest, but it's a bit more user friendly than her last tour: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/madonna/2015/madison-square-garden-new-york-ny-1bf49d14.html
Mardy
La Isla Bonita is a fucking tune. Not really enough there for the casual viewer, is there? Not sure she could hold the Pyramid with that set list, really.
The Nal
Surely she would do a Stones on it and play the greatest hits? Shes savvy enough.
FloorFiller
Surely she would do a Stones on it and play the greatest hits? Shes savvy enough. Stones were already playing a greatest hits set on their tour - in fact i think the only thing they switched around was replacing Get Off Of My Cloud with Jumpin' Jack Flash also, nothing from Ray Of Light!? she can fuck right off. i know acts often switch up their setlists for festivals, but with Madonna a lot of that set will be tailored around the set pieces that go along with the songs etc, so unless she did a totally stripped down set, i can't see her switching it up too much. that setlist would bomb hard
CaledonianGonzo
Debatable - it'll be a tightly rehearsed /choreographed setlist, with little room for flex. And at this point she's almost making a point about not just doing the hits.

CaledonianGonzo
Stones were already playing a greatest hits set on their tour - in fact i think the only thing they switched around was replacing Get Off Of My Cloud with Jumpin' Jack Flash A bit from columns A and B, here. They wheeled out 2000 Light Years From Home for the first time in 25 years and re-tooled Factory Girl. They also front-loaded a bit more than normal, played Wild Horses (which is by no means a given) and made sure Keith was doing Happy as opposed to things like Slipping Away. But otherwise, aye, it was pretty much a business-as-usual set for them.
CaledonianGonzo
"pushing the new" stuff festival headline sets. Urgh. Plenty that's admirable about not devolving into an oldies act. It only becomes a major issue if the new stuff can't hold a candle to the old stuff - as, unfortunately, is the case here.

CaledonianGonzo
I don't think you can complain too much about a wee sampling of songs from a current album - it's when they make up the lion's share of the set that it can hole a gig below the waterline. The Nal
Agree yeah. I like when Im watching someone whos excited about something new they've done. Much like Doom and Gloom at Glasto. Forward momentum and all. But when its Paul Simon..........
FloorFiller
aye with stuff like Doom & Gloom, it mixed in so well with their other material, and didn't remove you from the rest of the set. i was glad they played it. with stuff like Outlaw Pete, i struggle to think that many in the crowd were thinking 'yesssss so glad he's playing this. love this song!'. especially all 8 minutes of it obviously most acts are touring in order to promote the new album (and festivals are a great place to do that to casual fans), but the wrong choice of songs/overkill can go so wrong

Mash011
Its not. Hes a tshirt and shoe salesman. Hes a cretin. This is sounding even fairer after hearing his new song yesterday (albeit in a low quality recording)... sounds like so little effort went into it. Not convinced he cares at all about his music or performance any more, he's just throwing out half-assed tracks to promote his clothes now. swede
He'll be headlining pyramid by next album. He sure will, I cant wait. He was unbelievable at Leeds, its was very Madd City heavy, I don't think a lot of TPAB would have gone down well at Leeds, whereas at Glasto he'd be able to put those tracks into the set. King Kunta, I and Madd City absolutely blew me away live.
maelzoid
Also see "Bruce Springsteen - Outlaw Pete, Working on a Dream, My Lucky Day" Well I'm a massive Springsteen fan, but this is all truth. Outlaw Pete especially. I mean, if you're going to drop an 8+ minute epic into the set, who in their right mind is going to play Outlaw Pete when Rosalita and Jungleland are in the repertoire? I think that one single substitution would have turned the entire gig for the casuals.

swede
He has hardly played any of TPAB live on his recent tour I wasn't expecting a lot of it at Leeds tbh, he'd need a decent brass and string section to do some of the songs on that album justice live. tevaburger
NOT having Clarence play the Jungleland solo on the Pyramid stage in favour of Outlaw Pete?! nice gesture for the Gaslights to come onto Pyramid in 2011 w/ that solo playing as intro music
