CaledonianGonzo
It's funny that people are still questioning whether Biffy are there yet when they're probably actually coming towards the end of their time as major festival headliners. In which case we've maybe been lucky.
sisco
Biffy Clyro are the 1 band I desperately want to be at Glastonbury next year, for that reason alone they won't be there!! Unless I don't get a ticket of course, then it's a guarantee. And if they play they will headline, not sure how it's even any sort of debate! FloorFiller
Biffy would of course headline if they played, but as dental said, they're at the arse end of their festival headlining career (unless this new album somehow does wonders for them - but i just can't see that happening) and so would seem like a relatively weak headliner if booked. if this whole 'only two new headliners for 2016/17' thing is true, i'd much rather Biffy wasn't one of them
thewayiam
You make me laugh gaz If you read my post you'd understand that I meant that they are clearly going to be about next year, playing shows with upcoming new material. The point of Glastonbury / download was purely me discussing. Calm down and take a break from the internet Yeah probably my bad on that, I'd just got in from work from a shitty day. Sorry pal. From what's been said though over the last day or so I'd suspect Biffy aren't one of the Download headers. And if they play they will headline, not sure how it's even any sort of debate! I have the feeling you'll get your wish for them there and yes if they play they headline. I'd be a little surprised if they just did an arena tour with no festival dates but I'd be up for that still.
swede
He was knocking out clothes while making his last album and Yeezus doesn't sound to me like the sort of music a man resting on his laurels would make. That said, the three tracks released this year were pretty gash. It took me an age to realise. I just thought I couldn't find it on iplayer. There was decent phone footage of it on Youtube, or at least there was. Backstreet Freestyle looked mint!! It was all mint at Leeds tbh, the hits were obviously great but money trees and madd city were brilliant, he killed it on King kunta as well
Amy Lawn
The Eavii not giving Florence her due until their hand was forced makes me doubt Biffy happening. I reckon they should, though, they need to let go of the incredibig headliner thing.
FuzzyDunlop
they need to let go of the incredibig headliner thing. Yep. I 100% agree. There are not many left, but the problem you have is a certain demographic for their £230+ want a certain size act. It pains me to say that there are not many "headline sized acts" I want to see any more. I'd love next year to be watching a Pyramid headliner. Not saying I want to watch all 3 or even 2, but there is something special about watching one. I doubt I will be though (if I get a ticket)
Amy Lawn
I'm at the stage now where I'll be happy to not go down the Pyramid for a headliner at all most years. Kendrick and Taylor are going to be great in the next few years, but I'm all for Glastonburys future when I watch all my headliners at The Park and West Holts. I reckon they should, though, they need to let go of the incredibig headliner thing. In respect though, Flo hadn't headlined anywhere before, Biffy have headlined 4 big festivals including Sonisphere being slightly smaller. Little difference. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Glasto will offer Biffy a slot, whether it all fits in is another thing. I don't think they are subbing for anyone, but I'll say should a new album not hit the same highs I think if anyone can persuade them to sub then Grohl can, bearing in mind I don't expect that scenario at all. Unless they did just do all their own dates, Glasto and Download is all that's left and it's not Download. I'd put money on it.
Untz
Watching a Pyramid headliner is too much of a faff. It's all about watching a West Holts headliner and leaving a few songs early to shuffle off into the SE Corner.

CaledonianGonzo
The ideal world is the best of both worlds. While the festival still has the clout to draw in the few remaining relic megabands it should. It should be bold and book up the Kanyes and the Kendrick Lamars, but given that the clock is ticking it should also try and reel in the special occasion bands who don't show up for just anyone. It's a big ask to mix it up to such an extent and still make everyone happy, but they've managed it before and, for me, that's the aspiration - rather than a bill of bands that could easily just be the T in the Park headliners. dentalplan
The Eavii not giving Florence her due until their hand was forced makes me doubt Biffy happening. I reckon they should, though, they need to let go of the incredibig headliner thing. It's incredibly different though. Florence hadn't headlined any of the majors (not counting Bestival as one) whereas people are predicting Biffy Clyro because they've headlined the other suitable ones and Glastonbury is the only one left. It would have been a good, bold booking in 2013 and acceptable in 2014. However, 2016 onwards when they'll still be riding off the back of a 2008 album is fucked. Then again, going hard on the repeat bookings is fucked too so Biffy getting one shot while they're still about there is better than Muse or Coldplay back again. American Festivals OMG
Gnomicide
I didn't think I would but I missed not having a Pyramid headliner this year. It may well be a cliché but there is something beautiful about a great band on that astonishing stage. Given the right combination, there's no better place on Earth. Gucci Piggy
I hear you. But if the next album is another Opposites (a gold album), rather than another Only Revolutions (double platinum), maybe they've peaked? Yeah I agree they've peaked but I don't think they'll stop being headliners for a while. Same as Kings of Leon really, their newer albums don't do as well but they'll still headline on the strength of Only By the Night.

OMG Not sure you can say riding off the back of 2009 it was, Opposites had some big songs on it and got them to headline status. IMO, if they don't headline Glastonbury next year then it won't happen as 2017 will be a year late for Glasto and I'm unsure by that time they will still hold it. 4 times in 5 years in a big statement that there is a mutual liking there and 2007 and 2010 were both off the back of new albums. Kings of Leon had a much bigger success with that album though, and I would imagine their time is very limited if not already up as headliners. Not sure you can say riding off the back of 2009 it was, Opposites had some big songs on it and got them to headline status. You're right, 2009. My bad. But they were announced to headline R+L just a week after Opposites was released so how can it have got them to headline status?
