Purple aki squat
The ideal world is the best of both worlds. While the festival still has the clout to draw in the few remaining relic megabands it should. It should be bold and book up the Kanyes and the Kendrick Lamars, but given that the clock is ticking it should also try and reel in the special occasion bands who don't show up for just anyone. It's a big ask to mix it up to such an extent and still make everyone happy, but they've managed it before and, for me, that's the aspiration - rather than a bill of bands that could easily just be the T in the Park headliners. True enough. Hoping they get the Roses as a one off, the atmosphere would be incredible I reckon. One old band and two newer acts. That way it doesn't get too stale
Mash011
Opposites was good tbh. Still wouldn't be particularly thrilled if Biffy headlined though.
thewayiam
Because the hype surrounding Opposites before it came out was ridiculous! Don't forget they had already sold an arena tour out earlier on as well off the interest for the forthcoming record. It's not a lot different to you guys saying Foals as the record was expected to be massively hyped and do well which in comparison was just massivelt hyped. It probably is. Kings of Leon had a much bigger success with that album though, and I would imagine their time is very limited if not already up as headliners. You're right, 2009. My bad. But they were announced to headline R+L just a week after Opposites was released so how can it have got them to headline status?

Don't you think they'd have been outlined to headline on their next album when Only Revolutions was killing it and their songs were getting in the top 10 and stuff? Or do you really think the R+L bookers were sitting around until October when suddenly they heard a lot of people were really interested in the new Biffy Clyro album and signed them up. And no, it's not a lot different because I would have imagined Foals were signed up to headline before the new album was announced as well. For someone who has predicted headliners for the next five years of all festivals, you're a bit short sighted.

I've not said the bookers will sit around until October lol, what are you on about? Who's predicted headliners for the next 5 years lol? I am short sighted indeed but I can't really help that. Mezhyp1
Jake Bugg has announced his first live date in ages, with Mumford in Australia no less, but probably brings him back into the picture for 2016, and another big slot, sub probably? (I don't like Jake Bugg before this attracts abuse and negativity)

Alan_C
He will probably play I'd say. Difficult to see where they would place him now, because he got a ridiculously high spot in 2014 and it seemed to go down like a led balloon. I would be amazed if he played any higher than 3rd from top on Pyramid or sub on Other next time he plays. Not that he should be that high. FloorFiller
yeah i think if he were to play it'd be about third or fourth on Pyramid - still high, but not stupidly so like his 2014 bookings. but hopefully he just won't be booked at all (which i can also kind of see happening)

Alan_C
If Jake Bugg has headlined the other stage already would he accept lower than a sub on the pyramid? I don't think he's in a position to be like that with Glastonbury. He needs the festival, the festival doesn't need him. His 2nd album didn't seem to be anywhere near as popular as his first. This soon into his career he's not going to come back with less than a Pyramid sub and his 2nd album certainly didn't stand up. The fact that Glasto had him headline Other instead of a slightly lower spot.

Thought there was something about him being a John Peel headliner but the Metalica other stage headline spot was moved to pyramid etc.... yeah i don't think the original plan was for him to headline Other. first i've heard (i think) about him being booked to headline John Peel originally though. probably would've been too big for that stage really, but would've made a hell of a lot more sense than Other still subbed Reading/Leeds though which is outrageous

Headlining the JP would have been way too low. Edited September 21, 2015 by mrtourette
kingcrawler
Not really sure where Jake Bugg will play next year. Maybe subbing V and IOW? Not convinced he's big enough to sub now but IOW often have weak subs. don't see him getting similar slots to last year at Glastonbury or R+L. home to you
Jake Bugg headlining the Other facilitated my Jack White > Pixies > Mogwai Saturday night finale Anyways, I agree with Kingcrawler... high slots at V and IOW seem likely for him. Hopefully steers clear of Glastonbury!
