i just don't see Fleetwood Mac being booked now - this whole 'will they, won't they' thing for the last couple of years has just gone on for too long. i reckon the Eavi will've binned that idea off, especially as it's now incredibly well known that they chose IOW/the money this year over Glastonbury

I get what you're saying about Kasabian being a house band but it's not like Biffy haven't been a popular booking over the years. They have only played once more than Biffy.

 

I wonder if it's BST like The Libertines were. I can't see V goers giving a shit about Biffy.

 

A BST date for Biffy is a good shout actually. I'd go along if they sell off tickets for a few quid again.

 

Nothing really surprising in those odds, I'm sticking with Adele, Foo Fighters, Radiohead for now in that order of likelihood. Adele looking like a dead cert. Potentially swap Radiohead for someone like Coldplay or ACDC if we're unlucky.

That book doesn't ever nearly balance, it's absolutely shocking, it just all focuses on ladbrokes winning as much money as they can from under priced selections

If V book a band that isn't KOL/Kasabian/Killers for next year it'll probe be Mumford or Flo rather than Biffy.

Adele would be an obvious pick for Glasto if it wasn't for the stagefright thing. If that's not as big an issue as we believe it is then she makes perfect sense and would be a great booking (though I wouldn't be there). I was thinking Foos, Coldplay, Rihanna until now, but maybe swap Adele in for Rihanna.

Don't think Neil ever explained Foos increase to SR.

even though both would be new headliners for the festival (performance wise) they'd be pretty 'blah' headliners for me. i'd go and see Foos, and possibly Adele (probably not though) but i'd hope that the last headliner would be something more exciting than bloody Coldplay. them playing again soon is inevitable with the new album, but christ i hope they aren't booked

I thought they looked awful from the limited Sky Arts coverage available, but then again I've heard people say the same about The Stones at Glastonbury...

 

Crowd looked dead for Blur too, mind. Probably not helped by the fact it was absolutely bucketing it down!

Fleetwood Mac at IOW were great in person, terrible on the telly. I wasn't their biggest fan beforehand, but I was converted, they put on a brilliant show. Lindsey Buckingham is a great frontman.

 

Blur I was looking forward to more, but Damon was ill and the setlist could've been better structured for a festival set. Too much a lull when new songs were played. Fleetwood Mac definitely topped them.

Can't comment on clean bandit obviously but you missed the best set - imo - of the weekend if you missed percy.

My dad tried to disown me for not seeing him, he's still not got over it. I'd never heard of Clean Bandit before so I went and gave them a fair shake, they get a lot of stick which isn't fair, there's nothing bad about them, there's just nothing good about them. Literally nothing.

I do think missing ESG for a bit of a poops Jack White set is one of my biggest festival boo-boos though.

I didn't hate jack as much as most round here but he was far better on his tour gigs later that year.

 

Yeah, that Leeds gig was really fucking good. Was listening to Lazeretto on the weekend with my mate who I went with and reminiscing about how good it was.

I did find a kindred spirit in a woman who'd been dragged along by her husband, gone to the bar as as excuse to get away and then lost him in the crowd. Gave me the other G&T she'd bought and chatted to me about Arcade Fire the night before. The tent was packed out but pretty much the back two thirds was just people disinterestedly talking amongst themselves.
