Headliners 2016

Kinda spurred on by him being linked with headlining Coachella, but I could see him headlining the Pyramid in the next couple of years. He'd get a very big crowd and it'd be a kind of watershed moment like Beyoncé or Jay-Z being the first of their respective genres/sub-genres to headline or whatever, but obviously a whole lot shitter. I think it'd make sense.

see i don't think they'd ever go for him myself. global star as he may be, isn't he quite well renowned these days for just pressing 'play' and waving his hands in the air like he just don't care? obviously other festivals will/have had him headline, but at Glastonbury, i just don't see it

as for this Muse on the Saturday night business, nah, i don't think so. i know it's not an official rule or anything, but i really believe Glastonbury only bag headliners on their first summer of touring the album, and i don't see why they'd be desperate to get Muse on the second summer of touring a terrible album - they would've just got them this year

Yeah, short of a bump-up crisis they're obvious Other headliner/Pyramid sunset bands for me.

Biffy are a UK festival headliner now (albeit a weak one) but i'm 100% positive they won't be headlining Glastonbury next year (or ever, really). said ages ago that i didn't think they'd ever do it and i stand by that (despite going back on my word and saying it's a strong possibility sometime last year)

Foals won't be doing it next year either (seem a certainty to headline Reading/Leeds) but come the next album i can definitely see them making the step up (although at this time the idea of them headlining Glastonbury does seem like a push - the new album didn't propel them to headline status quite as much as i thought it would)

Anyone think we'll be seeing Faithless next year?

If so surely in with a shout of headlining the other stage against someone like swifty on the pyramid?!

even though it was probably wishful thinking on their part, their tweet about wanting to return to the Pyramid stage has made me think they could be one of the subs (although a Other headline set from them would be excellent)

The likely pool of names in the mix is very thin gruel, it must be said.

When Adele is one of the more unusual and provocative contenders it's difficult to forsee a vintage top tier on the horizon.

yeah, Adele sticks out as a 'well she was gonna do it eventually' rather than a 'it's GOT to happen eventually'. one to tick off i guess

What's do you lot reckon the chances of fleetwood mac headlining are then? Slim IMO but would be a great headliner

don't see it happening. after having chose IOW last year over Glastonbury i don't see why Eavis would try for them again. Glastonbury doesn't play second fiddle to other festivals

yeah, cos they've not spent a decade and half trying to get the mauve moron. :P

apart from Hop Farm he hasn't done another rival UK festival instead of Glastonbury. when he eventually/inevitably does IOW we can 100% write him off (although i guess we can do that without him having done another festival)

also, Fleetwood Mac's choosing of IOW/the money instead of Glastonbury is hugely well known. i just don't see why they'd bother with them again. fuck 'em

For purely selfish reasons I don't want Fleetwood Mac as I saw them this year at IOW.

Would love it to be Bowie. One of the only headline sized legends I haven't seen. Prince too, but I'm less bothered about him. I'd love to see Billy Joel, but I don't think as many people over here are that bothered about him.

Would love Arctic Monkeys too as I haven't seen them, but they only headlined in 2013. So that's a no.

Foo Fighters are pretty likely.

Wouldn't mind Coldplay or Muse, seen both before but both put on a good show. I'm not a particular Radiohead fan but I'm sure they'd be good and I'd watch them. I like Biffy and I think they could headline too. Foals aren't big enough.

Calvin Harris is too 'press play and wave his arms in the air' to put on a good headline show. Good songs, but little substance to the performance.

Would love Daft Punk to be there.

Would also love Green Day but seeing they've never played Glasto as far as I'm aware, unlikely.

In terms of female headliners we could get, I'd prefer Taylor Swift or Rihanna over Adele. #TeamSwift2016

M+E should ask them to forget about that lame album and do a 'Black Holes and Revelations 10 year anniversary' of 'Origin of Symmetry 15 year anniversary' show. Preferably the last option.

wasn't there myself but wasn't their Origin Of Symmetry show at Reading a bit shit? also, fuck any live show that requires them to do Feeling Good

christ, BH&R will be ten next year. that makes me feel so old! saw them on that tour and absolutely loved it. before it all went so wrong (or i just grew up and stopped liking shit music)
