Royal mail have lost our tickets

An update for all those of you sitting on the edge of your seat worrying about what's happening to my ticket. It still hasn't arrived so I called See on Tuesday. The person I spoke with was really helpful and said it would be passed to the team who handle this kind of scenario. That was the last I heard from See. I guess that team don't feel it appropriate to update the person who's paid them for safe delivery of their ticket with what's happening. I called back on Thursday and was told they're raising it with Royal Mail, and the 'worst case scenario' (also the most likely as far as I'm concerned) would be a ticket waiting for me at the box office collection.

An added complication is that the ticket was paid for by my housemate's credit card so provision of the card used for the purchase won't be possible. I haven't broached that one yet.

That's an absolute nightmare for you. You sound calmer than I know that I would in the same scenario! Fingers and everything crossed for you.

Thanks! I guess I'm just confident of my consumer rights. See have a responsibility to safely deliver the ticket and are 100% liable if they fail to do so, so while it's a huge pain that it hasn't arrived and I'll have to collect it, See have to sort it out and it sounds like they are.

See called back today to confirm that my ticket is now officially down as 'lost in international post' and that they will ensure I gain entry 'by alternative means'. They didn't say 'box office collection' but I assume that's what they mean. They said I can expect an email closer to the festival with more details. I called them back to remind them that I'll be leaving earlier because I'm travelling internationally and they told me to bring the order reference number and photo ID.

Why they're going to make me wait even longer before I'm told what's happening when they've already accepted it's lost, I don't know. The casual indifference to the issue by whoever I spoke with on the phone made me feel thankful I don't have to suffer the UK's atrocious standard of 'customer service' on a day to day basis.

Hey dude, seen you around loads on here and your commitment to the festival is pretty amazing. Just wanted to say I hope it all gets sorted and you get in, which I'm sure you will.

Word to your mother ;)

Good luck Kalifire! I'm sure the Glastonbury Gods are looking down on you.

You're right about British customer service too. Assumed it was the same everywhere but guess not.

Look out for a parcel turning up from Seetickets containing just a full Gortex camo and 4 Twixes...

cannot believe someone has not posted that story yet or the photo of the boy that has no legs in the photo of him and his rents, its standard every year

What an absolute pain in the arse KF! Hope it's not a long wait around at the box office when you get here - it infuriates me how blase they can be about it when you're paying them to provide you a service effectively!

Yeah. You should ask for you handling fee and postage back Kalifire as they haven't actually provided either service to you.

Thanks, everyone. I've tried to keep calm about this and put it in perspective - I'll still get in, things happen, it's life, ultimately I'm still going to Glasto. But yesterday it was starting to get to me a bit. I really appreciate the support here.

Today, I went to check on the mail and there waiting for me was a little card indicating I have something waiting for me at the Post Office. I instantly looked at the tracking number, which I've all but memorised given how many times I've typed it into Royal Mail and Australia Post's websites, hoping for some news. And it matched. It's my Glastonbury ticket!! It's arrived!! It took four weeks, but it's arrived!! Right now it's still with the driver but in a couple of hours I'll be picking it up and I can finally join in the excitement. I'm so relieved!! :)

Oh, what a massive anti-climax! This was just getting good.

(Seriously though, great to see it sorted).

I've just called them and they have to check to see whether the ticket I have here is still valid. They'll let me know. I hope so! :)

It is.

Or, to be more exact - while they could theoretically declare a ticket to be officially invalid, there'd be almost no viable way of actioning it. Once the ticket has gone out, then provided the photo is correct then there's almost no chance of it being rejected at the gate - imagine asking the checkers to memorise or constantly cross reference a list of "denied" tickets.
