Stretlow
The frame of my tent sits mostly on the outside. I've bought a big piece of tarpaulin that I'm planning to lay over it and fix down with some spare lines and pegs should it get super hot. The tarpaulin would sit 2-3 inches from the outer tent material. This will work won't it?
Waapster
Yes, much more effective than between the inner and outer.
frostypaw
Any barrier to light helps - one with an air gap even more so.Quechua have a new line in 'fresh' tents with loads of extra ventilation options and light/heat reflective fabric. Dukeicon
Buy emergency blankets from Poundland. You get two in a pack and they're a decent size. Reckon 4 blankets taped together would cover the best part of an average 3 man tent and would be stronger and less hassle than trying to tape together bits of tinfoil. The emergency shelters from poundland are better as they are much bigger. Stuck together in a triangle, open up one side and it's huge! KarraR
The first year I went we used a space blanket and one of those fan lights. The fan light was awful. Noisy and made no difference. We placed space blankets over our sleeping compartment, they worked well but were VERY noisy rustling and kept tearing in the wind. The next year I used spray adhesive to glue space blankets on a tarp. Then pegged and guyed it over the sleeping compartment. Worked liked a dream and no rustle!! I taped one end of the blanket onto the tarp, then used the spray adhesive in strips to glue it down. I then used silver tape all the way round the edges to keep it secure. This video explains it very well: https://youtu.be/MgNiav-y9Rk
ink1ing
That's why I just used one of the silver backed tarps. Saved the glueing thing.
