Weird and Wonderful that are a MUST SEE

Hi everyone!

Woop it is nearly time and I was wondering whether anyone had any tips of things that you wouldn't necessarilly know about that are a MUST SEE!

I am not really going for the line up (as such) ... I am hoping to see many amazing things separate to that!

Please do let me know of any cool little bands/acts/areas that should be seen!

Thanks all

Gem

Thing is, Gem, what appeals to me, might not appeal to you! So if I said, make sure you go and check out the real ale bar in the acoustic field, then drop by the circus tent and the cabaret before wandering up to the Green fields to watch Sawdusty carve some magical mushrooms..... you might go "YAAAAWWWWNNN"

The best thing you can do is have a good look through the absolutely amazing programme you will receive on entry then get yourself out and go for a walk. Participate, investigate, question and the amazing things will find you. If you don't find it, then walk some more. Seriously there is nothing better and you WILL find something that you love!

Best bet is definitely to wonder round. If a band you like is on one of the main stages definitely go and see them as hearing the crowd sing along to your favourite tune can be a "moment"

Generally though the more odd, amazing and out of it stuff happens away from the main stages, often just off the cuff. Circus and theatre fields as others have said has a lot of audience participation stuff, or go up to the Park, Greenfields and Greenpeace area for different views of the festival

Also try places in the day and night time and different times of the festivsl. this can make a massive difference as south west corner is fairly low key on Wednesday and Thursday and during the day but really comes to life at night

At least a dozen things / acts that you've not seen before. It doesn't matter what or who but get outside your comfort zone.

Also explore food. We set ourselves the challenge of sampling food from every continent during the fest.

My two must sees as performers who you may not have encountered before are:

Steve Knightley - half of Britain's best folk/roots duo Show of Hands - and a very good solo performer.

Tommy Emmanuel - astonishing Australian guitarist who manages to play lead, rhythm, bass and percussion at the same time on one acoustic guitar.

I can second one of the other posters call for the Real ale bar (is it called Cockmills?) in the acoustic field. Discovered it last year whilst waiting to meet someone and I must say it is good :) they only had ales on and one was particularly nice (Golden something I think).

But yeah, just wander about the place after the bands have finished. You could walk around the whole place and still miss goings on.

Hip hop karaoke,

Discovered this a couple of years back.it was pouring with rain so we ran into the tent, one of the best impromptu afternoons I've had.

And if you fancy a go yourself...http://www.hiphopkaraoke.co.uk/song-list/ :)

where at the festival do they do this?

I really fancy getting the GF's dad up whilst stoned to do a bit of Snoop as he HATES hip hop music! (Sadist, me!)

edit: ignore me. I forgot there was such a thing as a 'google search!'

Reading this made me definitely want to see Jonathan!! Anyone know when / where he's on? Being lazy I realise but searching through at work might send the company into meltdown. Hoping one of you guys who's seen him before will know when he's on this year.

Aaahhhhh, literally can't concentrate on anything but Glasto anymore!!!!

2 weeks!!!!!!

And San Miguel lager, made a change from the Tuborg served in most bars.

Mick Artistic is your man!

He'll be doing loads of sets around the site. He is hilarious in a surreal sort of way.

We caught his act one year by accident when it was raining - as you do - and have always sought him out since.

'Little leaf from the North, you go back and forth'  trallalala .......
