Anyone arrive around midday on Wednesday last year?

This thread's lifted my spirits somewhat as I had this sinking feeling all the early birds will have taken all the good spots by the time I turn up at midday on the Wednesday, hoping there's still plenty of space in some decent camping spots by the time I get there!

Our plan is to turn up Wednesday lunch time too as couldn't face another overnighter Tuesday/Wednesday morning. Heading to Bushy/Pylon/Rivermead and keep reading not to worry there's plenty of space. What does that really mean? Swaths of lush, untouched green grass or wandering through happy campers trying to find a bit of god's own country to call our own and squish in our 4 man tent??

where abouts will there be plenty of room left on thursday i dont think i will get there till 1 ish on thursday afternoon

All over the outer ring of camping there'll still be plenty of space and there'll be spots free a bit further in but you'd be risking a long hike

Those arriving late may be well served to put their backpack in the first lockup they see (grab a map or get them to mark it on yours) and then going to look for a camping spot with only your tent to carry.

EVERY Single Year I've been there have always been lost souls wandering around thursday hunting camping spots looking utterly broken with rucksack and trolley of beer still in tow - give yourself a chance!

Better than it used to be then? In 2010 I got off the M5 at around 10:00am on the Wednesday and it took 5 hours to get to the site....nightmare!!!

^^this and the heat, got out of car with my niece for a tab and other half thought it was hilarious to carry on driving when the traffic suddenly moved quite a bit, we must've run a mile to catch them, we had no phone or tickets with us, still haven't forgiven him....

Last year got to pink 53 around 10.30 wed, queued for around 20 mins at gate D.

Has anyone ever actually managed to park in the orange car parks? If so when did you arrive? I'm considering heading to the west car parks this year to lessen the walk, as we always camp in Oxlyers.

I've always managed to get into the Orange car parks although haven't been since 2011. We arrived about 3ish Wednesday morning each time. However, there's no guarantee where you'll end up as everyone says, pure chance :)

I feel like I repeat this over and over but..

Those people should have spoken to the Campsite Crew who would have been located just inside the Gate when they arrived.

As long as you don't have your heart set on a particular location and you're prepared to go where the space is, there really is no need to spend ages wandering around in a desperate state - when you get through the Gate, go and talk to the Campsite Crew - they know the score with where the space is and can point you in the right direction. You can be set up and relaxed in minutes. Even if you don't feel like talking to them or there's nobody available, there should still be a nice big map updated with what space is available.

I'm not sure those people would listen and head for pennards/park home anyway and just wander around in vain hope!

They're also probably not reading this so I have no doubt I'll see them this year
