advice on taking 10yr old

So I'm considering taking my 10yr old twin girls to glasto, hubby will drop them off sat am. I know there is kidz field but is that aimed at younger kids? Also whilst they do like listening to music they may well get a bit fed up later in the evening.

Just wondering how other people taking kids this age find it?

Hi there Slash's hat, we've taken our children in a group of 12 children for the past 6 years. The youngest was about 6. The kidz field will be brill for them at 10 as long as they aren't 'too cool' if you know what I mean! Ours ALWAYS got bored of the music after a couple of songs so we hung about in Arcadia, Green Fields, Circus tent, comedy tents and poetry tents. As well as every thing in between! All the children are now older and when people ask them about who they've seen at Glastonbury, they all say "it's about more than the music you know". I've just asked my son what he likes best about Glastonbury (he's the youngest of the group and now 14) and he said to tell you he "likes it best just walking around as seeing stuff". Hope that helps:)

Kids will have a great time, I can't tell you how much my 10 & 6 year old enjoy it.

I don't know exactly what your plans are, but will say that you've got an epic walk ahead of you on the Saturday morning.

Not easy dropping anyone off, unless you're crew with a very good vehicle pass..

Just forewarning you....

cheers. I was planning on getting them dropped at the showground and pick them up on the shuttle bus (which I presume still runs on the sat). Going to see what the weather gods have in store because if it's gonna be a wet one then I won't bring them.

Also slightly torn between having the whole time to myself doing what I want or having them for company and seeing them enjoy and going to things I probably wouldn't.

I take mine ( 6 & 10 ) every year, wouldn't have it any other way now.

It's the best place on earth, mine would be devastated if we went without them !

We did return them to grandparents for the sunday one year, was such an effort getting on/off site we haven't bothered since...

And if I really wanted to party that hard, I'd probably go Boomtown instead anyway :sarcastic:

Love taking my boy, hes 13 now so a paying adult for the first time. Ive enjoyed the festival for 30 years now. Enjoyed the fetival with large group of friends, small groups, on my own a couple of times and now with my family. Wouldnt have it any other way. Each has brought its own pleasures and pains.

We tend to spend the late morning walking around then chill out in the kids field in the afternoon till 'closing' at 6pm then more walking/watching bands till the early hours.

For drop off you could look at the maps and work out your own plan. My sister dropped my 14 and 12 year olds 3 years ago at the entrance to the East Campervan field on the Sunday late morning. It's a public road and quiet once the festival is underway. It's less than 10 mins walk from PGC. Worked well for me.

Cheers for that will take a look, presumed you couldn't get anywhere near.
