Pylon Ground, Rivermead and Darble

Wheretocamp

Recommended Posts

Hello

First time and we want to camp somewhere less packed and have read that Pylon Ground, Rivermead and Darble are some of the last to fill up and can be quieter.

We have read Tort's Guide but hoped some people on here would have some useful tips and ideas for us.

Thank you

We love it over there. Plenty of space on Rivermeade even on Thursday afternoon. We only use the camp to sleep so it's nice that you can actually do that. Neighbours nice and friendly (appears to be an absence of knobheads and I've not heard any NOS in the last 2 years we've been camping there), compost toilets are clean and it looks like theres some more been put there so that should solve the queue in the mornings. It's over the back of JP and Silver Hayes but lets face it, it's not actually that far to walk to anywhere when you're just bimbling along.

I can echo what the others have said - plenty of space and relatively quiet. The only real downside is the distance from the action, but that's not a problem really unless you intend to visit your tent during the day.

Camped at the very bottom of Rivermead the last two years. Only downers I can think of is there being a missing toilet block in Pylon (was on the map) and the murderous mud slope from Silver Hayes to Bushy. My top tip would be to take the 5 minute stroll to BBC Introducing to check out the secret gigs on the board outside.

I forgot about that! Yes, if it rains that can be a bit tricky to negotiate. Though of course it's going to be wall to wall sunshine this year. :)
