Hello fellow Glastobaters!
Could one of you do a really kind thing?
This is a long and sad story, so please bear with me.

Last year my lovely friend Mike Davies and his family came to the festival with us, for their very first time. He and his family, Victoria and their two young boys Freddie and Jack had such a brilliant time they were hell bent on going again this year.

So ticket day in October comes round, and none of our crowd of 18 managed to get tickets, except Mike, Victoria and their best friend Megan!
What a happy boy Mike was, he also had the wonderful news that his lovely wife Vicki was expecting a new baby, so there was much discussion on how you manage a 5 week old and two young boys at Glastonbury!
He was adamant that the rest of us would be successful in the resale, he was going to organise a military operation!

There is no good way to say the next bit, on the 9th January, Mike died very suddenly, he was 43. As I write this the shock is still sharp, his family, friends and work colleagues (he was a consultant anaesthetist at Musgrove in Taunton) are still devastated, his boys have struggled as you’d expect but both are coping in their own ways, with the support of their Mum Vicki,, Megan and fantastic family and friends .
Resale day came and none of us managed to get tickets, much disappointment as you can imagine

On 22nd May 2015 Vicki gave birth to Lily, a beautiful little girl, Mike will never see.

So now I come to the reason for this post, would one of you download the attached photo, take it to the festival, and leave it on the Strummer stone? It’s something we would have done if we’d been lucky enough to get tickets . If it’s possible for you to then, take a photo of the photo and post it here after the festival so we can see it there, that would be the icing on the cake!

So from our crowd who’ll be watching you lot on the TV this year, have the best time, have a pint or two of Brothers cider, at least 10 totally random chats to 10 total strangers, enjoy and lift a glass to Dr Mike Davies

Photos can either be posted on Glasto Chat, or sent to the E mail Vicki has set up, mikedaviesmemories@gmail.com

What a sad story for someone who looked like the life and soul of every party! Makes you realise you have to live every day as if it's your last.

So count me in, let's do what we can to keep the memory of Mike alive!

I have no printer at present following a recent house move and stuff still being in storage, could anyone kindly post me a copy of the poster?

I hope you don't mind me pasting the link to a newspaper article from the time, as they say some very nice things about him and his professional career.

Obviously if you want it removed, just say the word.

For all who've asked, the Strummer stone is in the Southwest corner of the Unfairground. It's tucked away behind Bez's Acid House (I think). If you can't find it, ask any of the stewards in the Unfairground and they'll point you in the right direction.

Trouble is Strummerville has moved this year and I'm not entirely sure they haven't taken the stone with them. In which case it will be between the Park and the Stone Circle up near the fence line.

Good point, dee. I've just asked them on FB, I'll report back when they reply.

The original location was no access to public last year I believe and I dont remember seeing the stone last year at their spot in the Latino field. Maybe they will move it to the new location, but I think the location of the stone was to do with where Joe Strummer used to always have his campfire when at the festival, which may mean they leave it where it is.
