General admission accessing CV fields

I've found general information on the forum regarding access to the CV fields but nothing specific to what I want to know. Can anyone assist please?

My wife and I are collecting the 'van and will arrive at the East CV fields Tuesday afternoon. Our friends will be travelling down later in the day and only have their general admission and car parking tickets. (We obviously need to hold the campervan permit).

Can they park their car on the Tuesday night once the car parks are open and get access to the CV field, or do they have to wait until the gates open on the Wed morning?

I can't remember whether the queues start right through the CV field from the pedestrian gate or whether they start from the car park gates outside of the CV fields. First year in CV fields and for the past few years we have come in through PG's A and D.

In theory, the CV fields are closed off to those who arrive by car on the Tuesday, as they're held back in the car parks rather than allowed to go and queue by the gate.

I've no idea how easy it might be to 'escape' the car park security.

They can definitely access the CV fields after the gates have opened.

Its worth asking when you arrive - you might be able to park a car next to the campervan...its meant to be caravan...

you may need to walk out with the sticker and give it to your mates....

Really? There was definitely a queue of people through E18/E17 on the Tuesday night last year.

they were defo held back two years before that, as I was right against the track and was woken by the hordes when they were let thru.

I'm less sure about last year and the year before, tho there was no noticeable queue down by Gate C at around 10pm on the Tuesday night, and I'd have expected there to be one if people were being let thru from the car parks.

We go as a large group each year and go to CV East fields Tuesday afternoon. Several other cars arrive in the evening and occupants join us in the CV fields.

As "organiser" I have previously emailed the festival office and asked permission to leave car parks and join CV fields Tuesday evening.

Each year they have sent me an email to print off with permission and if any security problems then they should contact a named person (Security management) for clarification.

Some years, some of the group have needed the email some haven't. Pot luck really!.

They are very helpful in the office and had no problems in previous years. It is, however getting close to them being even more busy!!

I think they may have only allowed the queue down to the lane that runs through the CV fields, remember going for a look from the top of the Hill of Death and no-one being there.

Sent them a message and they replied pretty swiftly with this:

Hi,

They’ll need to wait in their car until gates open at 8am to the main site, as access from the general car parks to the campervan fields would be over the main site, which on Tuesday evening won’t be open. Unfortunately we couldn’t advise otherwise as it would involve a dangerous walk in the dark along the country lanes that surround the site.

Best wishes

Dunno whether our group should chance it seeing as people have reportedly mananged to get in previous or if they have changed their policy, gah!

What do folks think?

Ta all

I think it's only the west campervan site that you accesses over the main site from carpark west, you're on the east side so that shouldn't apply,I'd point this out to them and see what they say.

I stated it was East in the message sadly

we parked up the T5 in east CV last year and went to Glastonbury town for the evening. When we arrived back I'm sure we just walked in with mates who had parked up and were carrying tents etc. to camp next to us - no issue but then again I was somewhat drunk so can't remember the details!
