Parking Tuesday night / stickers 10 miles out

Whats with the need to do the car park sticker 10 miles out? Is that where queues or car park signage start!

If car parks open at 9pm on the Tuesday night do the roads just clog up in anticipation or are there holding areas? Just wondering what the traffic situation will be?

read elsewhere avoid a37 bit difficult from Dorset?

Not sure why we are planning to get there around 10pm but heyho....

Cheers

Traffic has been much better in recent years - mainly due to the car parks opening on the Tuesday and a better traffic management plan

However the roads around the festival are narrow and if an incident occurs they can sometimes have to redirect traffic. Think they ask you to display the parking sticker from 10 miles out incase they need to redirect you and its easy to identify which are festival traffic and which are not

One slight warning I've been told is not to display your parking ticket in the car if you stop at service stations on the way. Some stories of festival goers cars getting targeted as theives know cars are probably full of camping equipment booze and quite probably a festival ticket and fair bit of cash too

When you get near the site tune into Worthy FM too - they will keep you updated on the traffic situation

Would help if seetickets werent so useless and actually posted the car park pass i paid for!

But in previous years the traffic has been fine and we always go on the tuesday night, if you aim to get there for about 9pm there will be a bit of a queue but if you get there a bit later its just a steady flow

I have never put my car park ticket on display until I'm about to enter the car park.

Recent years, since opening up to overnight queuing have been fine. Previous years I had joined a Wednesday q that took hours (from the Glastonbury direction) until I learnt to follow a map and take back roads that got me to within about a mile from the site.
