Over 18 wristbands

So what's the deal with these guys? I've got one before only for it to be refused at some bars.. Defeating the object of them... Are they allowed to do this?

Yes bars are allowed to suspend the system as after all ' its the bar staff that can end up being taking to court ' and this can impact on jobs in the future - here is the actual words { reduced to the important points }

 

if you have grounds to suspect the wristband was incorrectly issued , stolen, tampered with or transferred from an over 18 to a child We reserve the right to refuse a sale even though the customer is wearing a 'Challenge 21' wristband.

 

sure its a pain in the arse for the Customer but its a bigger pain in the arse for the Voluntary staff who may end up in court if they make a mistake.

 

By the way please forget your actual age - bar staff have a split second  to make a decision so it all depends  ' on the age you look to a complete stranger '

Not necessarily, most of the bars were doing challenge 21, so you needed to look 21 or have ID to prove you were 18+

 

I was 24 last year (arguably look older) and was asked for ID in addition to the band last year, I didn't mind though
