Car Parking in the East to go in Gate B/C

Sorry about this but Im just looking for clarification if anyone can be so kind?

We usually use a camper van, or if tenting it up we've parked in the West Car parks, but this year we have no camper and will be hoping to park in the East car parks for the first time.

I note on the east side there are the Blue and Purple routes, with Purple car parks servicing Gate B and Blue servicing Gate C, by the looks of things. Is the routing you take random and dictated by stewards on the road, or do you simply choose which route is more appropriate for the gate you want to enter?

Any help/advice with this would be tops

You can approach from Podimore with the hope of ending up in Blue, or approach from Cannards Grave with the hope of ending up in Purple*.

But while those routes make it more likely you'll end up in one or the other, it's definitely not a guarantee. Essentially it'll be based on 2 factors neither of which you can ever really know in advance - what the traffic volumes are like, and which car parks they're filling up at any given moment.

Last time I used public parking on the East Side, I came in via Podimore with the intention of heading for Gate C - the 2 cars in front of me were both filtered to the left into the end of a queue leading to the Blue Car Parks. Meanwhile presumably to avoid that route backing up onto the road, I was waved on half a mile or so further along the A37 and ended up miles away in Purple.

* before some pedant points it out as usual - yes I know there's other specific ways of getting to the site but broadly speaking those are the main convergence points for the East.

Not a pedant but I headed for purple last year, got in  and ended up gate C serviced by Blue. I've entered blue a few times and got B. You have more chance if you choose the entrance but it's still not guaranteed which gate you'll end up nearest.
