Agree there's some good ties overall but the all English tie is boring as hell for anyone that doesn't support either of the two sides.

Dortmund spurs much more exciting. 2 best teams in the competition imo.

Liverpool vs Dortmund would have been interesting, just because of the Klopp thing.

As for Liverpool vs ManU, you're right about a bore draw. Utd will play dreadfully but still win. It's just about how it always goes.

I don't think underperforming is the same as terrible, nor do I think overperforming automatically makes someone a great manager. I also don't believe a clubs performance is purely down to the manager.

I generally dislike it in Europe when 2 clubs from the same country play each other. There have certainly been a few all English stinkers in the past, including one final.

OK, OK ... there's been some moments .... but mostly I remember them as mostly-dire affairs, with Utd walking away with a scoreline their comparative performance over the match hasn't deserved.

(Utd have probably deserved the points despite that, cos getting often-undeserved points was what made them that force, but that's another side of things)

Agree yeah. Recent matches have been fairly poor. But so have both teams!

First time in Europe though, its a big game as a result. Evening KO too so the fans will all be completely pissed up!

Yes it's boring. Really boring. It's a match that happens twice a season minimum. Often more with League Cup and FA Cup meetings. 

Add that to the fact that on the majority of occasions they're really cagey defensive matches. 

I doubt I'll be tuning in.

Thought the last one in the league was fun myself. It's like any other fixture you see a lot. There's good ones and there's shit ones.

In a European context it's like a derby for me. Which makes me interested instantly.

Dortmund/Spurs will be magnificent though.

I think the two legs and such high stakes almost guarantees it'll be dull, more than normal.

They'll be a scrappy goal in one of the few times either side gets close to goal, and whoever gets that first goal will very likely win the tie.

And of course, because Liverpool can't score even more-so than Utd at the moment, it'll be Utd who get that first goal.

(here's betting I could publish the above as a review after the matches )
