Very fair of you TGT, cos I remember you're not fan of his.

Some people might say he should have done better here and there, but few saying that will have the same collection of trophies to their name.

I wasn't and I'm not. But you have to go back 30 years to Dalglish's first spell in charge to find a Liverpool manager with a better win percentage than Benitez. He also won more trophies for Liverpool than anyone else in that time frame other than Houllier - though you could argue the competions Benitez won were more important possibly than Houllier's League Cups?

Possibly he underperformed at Inter, par for the course at Napoli, and exceeded expectations at Valencia?

Is his record much worse than LVGs?

Who are we saying is better that is still working? Guardiola? LVG? Hiddink? Mourinho?

Ancelotti, Capello, maybe Mancini, Simeone and Conte in a few years. But hes up there of course. A great, great signing for Newcastle.

Ancelotti definitely. Capello has retired hasn't he? Mancini - no chance. But he has time I guess as do Simeone and Conte.

To me Benitez is a great choice my only doubts would be lack of recent experience that end of the table.

When pardew and Mclaren got the job their stock was at the level of a championship manager and both were ecstatic to get a premiership job, but neither were in the position to rock the boat and get another good job. If the board give rafa any crap he will walk, which strengths his position.

Sunderland, Norwich, Swansea, Villa and Palace are all must wins it we are to survive.

Nah, only Sunderland, Norwich and Villa. We need to pick up points in games beyond those 3, and the other 2 you mention are definitely the easiest, but I reckon 35 points would see us safe if we beat Sunderland and Norwich.

Anyone fancy a wager Costa gets away with that?

Assuming you're talking about his Suarez moment. Don't think he actually bit him. If he did, Barry has an iron neck. Looks like he was about to and (wisely) thought better of it.

Deservedly lost today, offered no threat at all. Season over in 4 days. Now would be a good time to play the kids - shame they're all on loan

Some great defensive play, finally.

Glad we've progressed. If we can win that, we can win the whole thing, Come on you Blues!

Well in Blues. Chelski dumped on their arse.

brilliant result today, that first goal was incredible

Bring on Wembley next month, Liverpool being out of the competition means anything is possible for us. 2012 semi final has scarred me and I'm hoping for an experience to exorcise those demons next month!

Yeah I think Costa was just looking for a reaction to get Barry to do something stupid, didn't get anywhere pushing his head against Barry's so decided to try and make him think he was going to get bitten. I'm sure if he had Barry would have reacted.

Turns out he didn't need to try and be so deceptive to encourage Barry to so something stupid.

Full confidence in Martinez in these one matches strangely
