I think any team like Liverpool who sell arguably their best players i.e Gerrard, Sterling, and Suarez, don't deserve to win anything. I'd like to know if their manager actually wanted to sell those players.

If he didn't want to sell then he should've walked away from the job before he's sacked for not winning anything, cos the players who'd have probably won trophies for them were all sold to teams who will win trophies by strengthening their teams with those players.

If he had of walked what next? Knock on the door of the Nou Camp expecting to be let in with open arms. If he did walk out in liverpool it would just be to another club who would sell their best players, what would be the point.

Sterling and Suarez forced the move. Very little a club or managers could do about that. Same when the likes of Ronaldo wanted to leave Utd. I think its very obvious the manager did not want to see them go

As for Gerrard, he is in the twilight of his career. Its a natural thing to see the likes of him put out to pasture in the US Super Soccer League

Saying BR should have walked away from the job is somewhat idiotic and shows you dont really understand modern football and the modern day football player

Ah, OK. West Ham are much the same as they ever were as I said and yo9u were wrong about, and you've been talking shite.

Go back and read your words and mine.

I didn't say West Ham were now good compared to last season. Yet you claim I did.

Whereas you did say that West Ham this season were much the same as last season - that they could still defend but played in the same style as last season.

Yet the facts are that West Ham this season are playing a completely style of football to last and have conceded 6 goals in 2 home games.

Care to comment on the above or would you rather keep making up things that I haven't said?

Nothing much needs to conspire against Chelsea. Things merely have to play out as they normally do for a team in Chelsea's position of being last season's champions.

How many recent champions have finished outside the top 2 the following season? Obvously Man Utd and maybe Ancelotti post chelsea. I dont think its necessarily the norm.

even when I quote your own words you claim that's not what you've said. You just hate to be seen as wrong, which you often are.

At least i'm smart enough to know that all opinions are often pretty shit about football, even when it's the opinions of the pros.

Since 2000, the premier league champions have successfully defended their title 4 times. In the same time period, the champions of the previous season have finished 3rd or below the following season just three times. All were Man Utd in 2002, 2004, and 2014.

Piffle.

Go back and quote both our words on that Arsenal game and see how inaccurate you are being.

Again.

Yep, but that's as much about the other teams as it is about the ex-champions. For the last couple of seasons those two have been streets ahead (apart from Suarez's influence for LFC).

IMO, the other teams - well, specifically Arsenal - are now that bit closer in strength to the top two of last year.

If you go back a few weeks to before the season started, common opinion was that Chelsea would be runaway winners and City might finish as low as 4th. It's taken just a few matches to turn that on its head.

I just tried and have found out the search is broken (again).

so give me a while. Always happy to prove you wrong. :)

For ease, here you go:

Lovely to see us playing football again, results won't always come, but like what Bilic is trying to do.

trying to out-Sam Sam?

not really. I spent yesterday watching hoofball, but I thought Sam was unemployed...?

with more purpose than West Ham.

Stoke/Liverpool was about as dull as you'd expect from a Pulis team which brings the opposition down to their own level, and Arsenal/West Ham was about as dull as you'd expect from a Big Sam team which brings the opposition down to their own level ... and yet both managers have moved on and supposedly there's better footie to be seen now.

West Ham were deserved winners, but not because they were good.

Did you watch a different game or something?

West Ham still know how to defend, and Arsenal still want to walk the ball into the net.

I watched the game that most others seem to have.

Clearly you didn't if you think you watched a typical Sam Allardyce team.

The football was no better than Sam's teams.

Maybe it's WHU players still on their hols, but if you see that as a bright new dawn the problem is with your eyes and not mine.

There for all to see....

Those predicting the team with the best players and best squad would finish 4th (or in some places 5th) were making very strange predicitons in my view. I predicted them as champions and am yet to be convinced I am wrong.

Look pretty stupid now, don't you?

so you think the weekend's defending by WHU is now their typical defending? And not a weird set of cock-ups, that won't be repeated?

I'm guessing that you think they're for the drop as well then. If that's typical, they probably will drop.

(PS: I think some people might have taken my words with a literacy that wasn't there when i wrote them. And someone's saying I'm the stupid one?)

The bit that was all meant? That the footie is no better than last seasons..

I think they're a team in transition from one style of play and one manager's tactics to a different style of play and another manager's tactics.

Anyone who's watched the last three games and/or looked at the statistics agrees with that notion.

Apart from you who think West Ham look and play in the same way as they did under Allardyce!

Still no comment on the words you attribute to me that I never actually said?

What a surprise....

Why does someone accuse me of putting words in their mouth and then quote my words and not their words?

Would it be because they've got something to hide?

As I said, I'll dig them out when i've fixed the broken search.

isn't it funny how you've chosen not to quote your own words? PMSL

I quoted my own words where required to make it clear what you were responding too.

I didn't bother with all, because most were simply correcting the usual inaccuracies in your posts.

If you think you quoting my other posts backs up your bollocks go right ahead. I doubt you will because they further substantiate my point of view and not your own!

When are The final CL qualifying games and the draw?

Quite excited for the draw this year with the new pots. Real Madrid in pot 2 is a fun sight.

Edit: Tonight and tomorrow for the matches and Thursday for the draw. United tomorrow will be the first full match I've been able to see this season, then.

Brilliant !

Trying to hang yourself again?!

So, quite clearly I didn't say we were good.

What I did say was that there was a change in style. Which there is.

What I did say is that results won't always come. Which (disappointingly) has already proved to be the case...

Shall I load the gun again for you?

The games are tonight and tomorrow and I think the draw's on Thursday. I find it hard to get too excited about the champions league but hopefully the new pots make it a bit more interesting this year.
