Gucci Piggy
hey, it wasn't me who said that about other teams, I merely stated the facts. You're loving this as a way to duck shockingly shit Utd. United have nothing to do with the discussion. How are they being ducked?
eFestivals
Has anyone involved with their current squad ever been successful in Europe? Their last CL performance leads me to believe they won't be particularly impressive in Europe at the moment. I wouldn't disagree, tho take a look back at the team who won the CL. Gucci Piggy
I wouldn't disagree, tho take a look back at the team who won the CL. Yes but just because that squad overachieved in the competition it doesn't mean a completely different one will, just because they were both named Liverpool. st dan
Klopp/Ancelotti aside for a moment, anybody think Frank De Boer could be in with a shout for the Pool job?

Wooderson
I'm asking why Wooderson seems to be suggesting we shouldn't all want West Ham, etc., in those places. I'd rather them than Liverpool if they prove themselves to be a better team. It was a shite comment from me in fairness. I apologise. Gucci Piggy
De Boer's third favourite, isn't he? To be fair I don't think Ancelotti's likely at all; can't see anyone but Klopp doing it.
pink_triangle
Talk of Barca being in for Coutinho in Jan.................. Not a good move unless he fancies a few years being paid a lot of money to sit on a bench.
pink_triangle
Do people really want to see Palace, Leicester and West Ham in the European places? No disrespect, but cmon to fuck. I do because I would like to see England lose one of those 4 places! The reality is these teams will fall in the second half of the season as they always do. st dan
No. Why not? Just because Liverpool (the owners and the fans) may want Klopp and Ancelotti, what's to say that they're interested? There are bigger jobs on the horizon that they could be looking at - Bayern/Chelsea being the main ones. I could see Ancelotti going to Bayern and Klopp to Chelsea. Ancelotti makes no sense, if he wants that sort of challenge, why not wait for the roma or milan jobs to come up. Klopp is the obvious choice from Liverpool if willing to work with the parameters the board have placed. However its possible Klopp could use the interest to negotiate a better deal elsewhere. TheGayTent
Unfortunately I think you're right - regarding the smaller clubs falling away that is. Edited October 5, 2015 by TheGayTent

Yeah they already have Rakitic, Turan and Iniesta for two midfield spots. No way is he breaking in there.

Not sure Ancelotti would be interested in going back to Milan? He's already won everything there is to win with them - and would have been even more dominant were it not for Juventus' cheating. kaosmark2
Why do you want England to lose one of those places? He's Welsh. That said, with the disgraceful attitude English clubs have towards the Europa we don't deserve as many European places as we get. I don't WANT the spots reduced but if it happens then it'll be our own fault. I will laugh humongously if the next time Liverpool or Spurs finish 4th is when the English places are cut due to them sacking off the Europa year on year. Serve the fuckers right. You haters might have to absorb that for a bit.

Well looking at Ancelotti - he's won countless league titles and Champions Leagues at a mixture of AC Milan, Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid. All of which are far bigger clubs than Liverpool. Klopp is a double Bundesliga winner and CL finalist. He did a remarkable job on a budget and reaped the rewards. In all honesty, he's going to struggle to win anything at Liverpool anytime soon. Why would he take this step down at this moment in his career? He'll surely want to push on, he's the most sought after young manager in world football at present. Chelsea are likely to be looking soon. City will be getting rid of Pellegrini in the not too distant future I would guess. We all know Pep is leaving Bayern at the end of the season. Blanc isn't the huge name which PSG need to compete at the highest level. Arsene is constantly on the verge it would seem. All of these are far more attractive jobs than taking over a struggling Liverpool side with a very average squad, who's owners won't give them the cash required without selling first. This isn't Liverpool hating. It's being realistic. Edited October 5, 2015 by st dan
pink_triangle
Why do you want England to lose one of those places? Nothing to do with being Welsh, I think having 4 places encourages complacency as the big teams often know that as long as they don't have a terrible season they will get one of them. I think cutting down to 3 would push the teams more and improve them in the long term. Note I think 3 is enough for any country in Europe, its not specific to England. Not sure Ancelotti would be interested in going back to Milan? He's already won everything there is to win with them - and would have been even more dominant were it not for Juventus' cheating. Yes, I think Roma is a more likely destination, considering he spent the bulk of his playing career there.

I reckon the Premier League losing that 4th place starts the clock ticking on a European Premier League. All these big clubs care about is cash. When thats threatened - as this significantly would - they'll pool resources and set up another cartel.
st dan
Yet Klopp is taking over the managers job. Can you explain it for me given the above? So mysterious! Well it's being reported that he's in talks, which I guess is probably the case. So he could well be taking the job. However, if any of the clubs I mentioned above gave him a call before he signed on the dotted line, do you think he would seriously take the Liverpool job over any of them? At present the Liverpool job is the biggest available vanancy in world football. No question. Hence all the big name available managers being linked with it. But this can all change anytime in the fickle world of football as we all know.

TheGayTent
All I can say is, I'm disappointed if Klopp wants and takes the Liverpool job...and were I red Scouse i'd be punching the air delighted and feeling a little smug. As a neutral the European super league wouldn't really bother me. Most top sides are now just collections of worldwide players, so Im not sure it really matters if they play other collections from the same nation or another one.
