Did anyone even listen to the comedown machine? ...

4 or 5 really good songs in my opinion. Listen to it a fair bit.

EE said the replacement was a band not on the line-up (according to the bbc/nme article?) so won't be Kylie or Beck I wouldn't have thought.

Maybe Strokes or Chic if we're looking to big BST bands who could do it...

Delighted with any of those four tbh. Anything but Elbore.

I must be the only person I know who has seen The Strokes who thought they were really good! Saw them about three years ago at a fest in Portugal at about 1am. They didn’t really do anything bar smash out song after song in quick succession while not saying anything or moving and wearing shades.

For me, you can only really get away with that act if you’ve got the tunes. Put it this way – they ended on Hard to Explain, Juicebox and Take it or Leave It.

In fairness, I was drinking absinthe throughout with some randoms I met who were also were from London.

Anyway, I’m seeing them again tonight. I doubt it will be as good as that somehow…

I saw them at Leeds in 2011 thought they were great, I'd love to see them at Glastonbury, can't see them playing below headline though personally.

Julian has put a bit of timber on these days as well looking at their Primavera appearance

If the act is someone like Foals or The Strokes I don't see why not really. They'll announce it for sure though.

I hope they do because if it is someone who could generate an atmosphere, the first few songs would be ruined by people who don't like them leaving (or even worse, staying), whereas those people wouldnt be there if it was just announced

The Strokes subbing would almost make up for the Foo Fighters pulling out... almost.

Wanted to see them for ages but they only seem to do UK dates that are awkward to get to these days, i.e. Festivals or London on a week day (not that I'd go to Hyde Park for a gig again anyway).

also, even though the strokes don't have visible plans will they really want to stay in UK for a gig that is 8 days away. suppose they could travel back from NYC next week?

not sure how functioning they really are as a band these days though beyond big gig paydays. sure a few of them have solo projects on the go..
