Car Searches

they do search - I have been searched [last year] - they were only looking for glass.  um yeah just try and quote your rights vs the organizers right to search. One of 2 things will happen, depending on where you are in the queue: mobbed by members of the traffic log jam you have now created and the arrival of chaps dressed in black, who depending on their mood/work load will shorten your festival by 3-4 days.

Saddest glasto story - yuff queuing to get in @ gate c ... gets pulled out ... willing submits to search - all good - ... AH - no sorry no glass - they confiscate his jar of marmite ... he had his stash hidden there in :-(

I've never known cops to search cars, or even people, on entry but they do have a presence further from the site. Mostly for those on public transport (you get dogs at both Castle Cary and Paddington for instance) but there are plenty of stories about people being searched at motorway service stations and even pulled over while driving. At least some forces are well aware it's Glastonbury and seem happy enough to speculatively pull people up who look like they may be going. It can be a good idea not to have camping stuff/rucksacks visible from outside the car.

ticket TnC

7. You may be searched at the entrance. Any items which the organisers consider may be used in an illegal or offensive manner shall be confiscated. Persons suspected of carrying out illegal and/or offensive activities onsite may be searched. Anyone resisting confiscation of disallowed items or disregarding these conditions will face eviction from the site.

Anyone had their car searched on way in/in close proximity to the site. My mate reckons he did last year but has anyone else ever had this/noticed it? It's still ok to leave glass bottles etc in the car yeah?

if your car gets searched and then find anything glass in it, they are very likely to take it off you - even if you tell them you'll be leaving it in the car.

Saddest, no. Stupidest, yes. "I know, I'm going to hide something I'm not meant to have inside something I'm not meant to take in".

So to original point security don't want you to have glass bottles in car parks? Was planning to decant spirits into plastic in car park and pop back over weekend if need more...

At whatever point you've bought alcohol and plastic bottle to be together in symbiotic harmony, that's the time to decant.

The car parks end up full of rubbish too where selfish mindless people just dump their junk on the way in/out - if that included glass bottles you'd be looking at many smashed, punctures in tyres and barefoot folk... no glass anywhere on site, it's an important rule not just a fancy
