Anyone get the sense the end of Glastonbury is nigh?

Reading is awful for people pissing in the crowd at the main stage & around the perimeter arena fence. Even in the campsite by Henry's Gate stream it is awful.

The amount of shite left behind is far worse than Glastonbury, even though it's half the capacity. Don't hear much about that do we?

Richfield farm is a farm right?

I'm confident the festival will continue for the foreseeable.

The peeing wasn't too bad from what I saw.

I'd support an initiative on the litter. About time the message got across that wilfully dropping litter everywhere is in harmony with what the festival tries to be, and with a beautiful rural setting. So we all go to this beautiful place and wreck it?? Wrong.

Why don't they dismiss people who piss against the bushes/fences? However, I do understand peoples' (especially girls') frustrations at the huge queues for toilets...

I only queued once for the toilets all weekend for about 5 mins (was tired and couldn't be bothered doing my usual trick to walk to different ones) - you can walk to a different set of toilets and back in the time it would take you to queue for some of them!

I've been going since 2000 and for me this years was magnificent. Too many scruffy bastards for sure but where i was camped it wasn't as bad as i've seen it before. Anyone pissing in places not provided for is a bit of a prick - but anywhere with a massive crowd get this .

Took a couple of new lads this year and it simply melted their minds,it was pretty much a vintage year for our group.

You never know obviously but nothing that happened this year made me think that. I'm with those who said it was the best since 2010. After 2013 I thought maybe the magic was fading but this year was utterly glorious.

I too think the festival will be ok for a good while yet. Having said that, I did see loads of people pissing all over the place. It was both sad and horrible to see. I confronted people about it and all I got was shrugs of indifference from people with glazed over eyes. It is becoming a worry to me that the pollution of the land may lead to the unthinkable happening... Those piss troughs against fences that Bestival and some other festivals have is a good idea to try and help this issue. Be great to see the Green Police back again too.

I think 'peak glastonbury' is a good term.  I think we hit peak glastonbury with the return after the 2006 fallow year and the changes that came with it (The Park, etc)

I doubt the festival is going to come to an end any time soon.  Whether it is able to continue to innovate and invite is another matter.  It has been some years since there was any major change, unless you count renaming or moving a couple of areas.  Returning in 2009 for me the place was amazing, so much new stuff, so much improvement but at it's core recognisable.  I think in the years since then it has been effectively polishing up the existing areas and infrastructure rather than breaking new ground.

spot on

Maybe you just see and hear what you want to see and hear but I didn't encounter any hedge pissing and never found the queues for the toilets to be overly-long.

It was one of the best Glastos for me in many years with a very high proportion of 10 out of 10 scoring bands.

I suppose it depends on your musical tastes but I thought that the Acoustic had a particularly strong line up.

Overall I found it to be as friendly and superbly organised as ever.

First time I've been since 2009 and definitely felt a bit different at first. Around the main stages it felt more like any other festival but as soon as I got into the other areas it still had that Glastonbury magic. All it did was encourage me to spend more time away from the Pyramid discovering new things which turned it into the best festival ever for me.

I saw much less hedge pissing than in recent years and the campsites were noticeably less litter strewn after the festival than ever before. I'm friends with numerous of the core site crew including a couple of them that are at the top of the hierarchy and the current feeling is that this year is comfortably going to beat last year's record for the clean up time. Good news all round.

For me this WAS a vintage year. A fantastic vibe and especially on the Wed and Thurs I could literally feel the joy radiating from everyone after the gates had opened.

We had a couple of new crew with us this year who were there from the Sat before until the Wed afterwards. They experienced Glastonbury Total Immersion.  Both were completely blown away by it all and described it as genuinely life changing and affirming. (Neither had been to a festival before :)  )

From what I've heard over the last couple of weeks, I'm not worried about the short term (next few years) future of the festival.

can anyone link to some of the negative reports? I've not really read any bad ones.

Over 29 you say?

You shouldn't be there

The festival has faced much much bigger issues in the past and survived.

I think the big will it won't it question of carrying on comes when Michael does eventually die, the handover to Emily has already been done but I'm sure without her father there it will be very tough for her emotionally. Sorry to sound so somber (It's easy to forget how old he is because he still looks so youthful!)

Haha, I can't wait for the septicaemia to kick in!!  But that's ok because as I'm 29 now I'll never be going to Glastonbury again.
