Anyone get the sense the end of Glastonbury is nigh?

Maybe you just see and hear what you want to see and hear but I didn't encounter any hedge pissing and never found the queues for the toilets to be overly-long.

I saw much less hedge pissing than in recent years

Regardless of what you saw, the messaging on the stage screens hasn't been there before, and mid-weekend they even sent a push-notification on the app about it. They were clearly having issues.

Think the festival has tackled some big issues in the last few years successfully - ie the fence and traffic management. I'm sure new issues can be tackled in similar fashion

My guess is that over the coming years the festival might move away from the big headline acts and focus more on other areas of the festival, possibly down scaling a bit. It would still sell out due to its reputation but a slightly smaller crowd and possibly a slightly greener focus might be needed to keep it going. I certainly can't see it getting any bigger nor does it need too

.... I'm still in shock

If you're in shock then we are going to be floored and I fear not in a good way

End of an era !

If it is it will be near on impossible to get tickets for the last year of 'how we know it', split it in two and have a smaller 'back to its to its roots' festival and a large music event

Bad dreams tonight I fear :-(

If it is coming to an end 2020 would be the perfect time to do,so after 50 years. It simply can not be moved and then expected to retain the same magic it does now, it would not work. It's a kin to building Wimbledon in Liverpool (I'm from Liverpool so I can say that without it being a jibe at scouser!) or playing the Augusta Masters in Las Vegas.

Terrible timing, I've only just started going!

Maybe they'll do away with the final fallow year allow five more and end on 2020 the 50th year! Yes it ends but it's a definitive 50 years and we are left with the memories!

I hate that too!

I'd rather not know so early to be honest. Tickets would be a nightmare and actually nearly impossible. Demand would go up by a large percentage and not people who really love the place. At the very least, say it before the last one but even then....

Me and the other half are getting to the trying for kids stage. If this turns out to be the news that people have been saying, kids will have to go on hold!!

Won't be long for me too. If it's two more years we probably won't be attending (together at least). Maybe manage to squeeze in next year. Due to age the option isn't here to wait (I wish it was for more than Glastonbury reasons!!!)

Yea i'm in a very similar position

Why does normal life have to get in the way of those 5 days in June eh?

I've seen no negative articles about the festival (I've only read page 1 of the thread so apologies if someone makes this post pointless further on), I've only seen articles relating to how it may be moving location soon, or people slating Kanye and even then Kanye has just as many positive articles.

I'd actually prefer to see articles slagging the festival off because it means ticket day would become so much easier for those who appreciate everything it is. I think the 'peak Glastonbury' is a very valid comment, we're going to see tickets become increasingly difficult to get a hold of until at least the festival after the next fallow.
