I think we might be spoiling the thread for everyone else 2Hats...

Fuck 'em*, we're in the post festival dead zone.  There's nothing solid to talk about for the next festival for another 6 months or so.

*I would actually be appalled if I thought this was really getting on people's nerves.  I also would genuinely like to see Matt Berry play, since he's actually an inventive musician as well as a comedian.   Not in the legends slot, obviously.

Concur on both counts

Lets see. This is usually a solo artist, usually, but not always, American, not had a hit in a while but has had a few so big that they have become part of popular culture (if not always for the right reason). Also a solid reputation as a live performer.

Lets see...

Barry Gibb? As much as i'd love to see him live, His arthritis was getting bad last I heard, and without his brothers... :(

ELO/Jeff Lynn. That would be fabulous, chances of a few Willbury's Traveling or otherwise as guest slots would be high.

Billy Ocean. Yes, another good option. If Lionel Ritchie can do it despite half the crowd not being born when he last had a proper hit then he is one person that can pull it off.

Kate Bush would be nothing but a headliner. Her on stage is real event stuff (though it might be a bit marmite).

Elton John? Would his famous ego stoop so low?

Billy Joel? Not sure he has the charm to pull it off! Like to be proved wrong on that one.

Peter Gabriel, now that is one I'd love to see.

Pat Benatar?  A couple of hits big enough, right era, maybe too much a rock chic? Maybe not quite right?

Bananarama? I hear they are back together, they have the UK hits, do they have what it takes? (Though I would prefer Fuzzbox!).

People talk about Elton's "famous ego" but last month I saw him perform to about 10,000 people at Walsall's Bescott Stadium, and it wasn't sold out. He was touring other similarly sized venues.

Why do people think he'd turn down the opportunity to play to 100,000 people who are guaranteed to go nuts for his set, all broadcasted around the world?
