Did you watch Paul Simon though? He was dreadful. Even if Elton came on, did candle in the wind, sending the chair brigade weeping into their Daily Mails and walked off again, it would be better.

No, I didn't go in 2011, but TV footage made it look cool. I reckon this forum made it up that he was cack, how could Paul Simon be cack? I'm on to you all.

He was utter shit, he just didn't seem to get it. Wrong setlist, no energy, just dull.

I'm kinda with you.  The recording of Diamonds on The Soles of Her Shoes is brilliant.  Like all his songs were.

The man was ill though, he looked gutted in the interview at the end, as he couldn't hit the notes like he normally could.  Poor Paul.

Would it?

oh man, i went to Slane in 2000.  just cos i was over there and got offered a ticket.  Bryan Adams headlined.  3 fucking hours!  all his hits.  he did that one with Chicane, even brought out Sporty Spice for that duet.

every bit as hideous as you're thinking it was.

Liza Minelli! Can't believe no one has suggested her. Chuck in a bit of Judy and you've got a set that would make Lucille 2 proud.

I'd settle for Elton, Bazza, Diana or Meatloaf though. Or Babs Streisand. For some reason none of them feel that likely.

For the record I enjoyed Paul Simon at the time but my overriding memory is it being too hot and too crowded. So maybe he wasn't all that.

Edit: oops, it's Liza with a Z not Lisa with an S cos Lisa with an S goes sss not zzzz

Also her Beyonce cover would be awesome

If Barbara Streisand plays I'm going to have to take my Mam to Glastonbury. And as much as I love her, I can assure you this is not a good thing. Having never camped in her life, and tutted her way through any coverage I've shown her, I know it's not for her. However, her love of all things Streisand would mean she would have to be there. And I'd have to take her.

So no, no Barbara Streisand thank you!

Best bet would be to leave the slot empty in a lasting tribute to Cilla Black,Joe Strummer and Percy Sledge.

Then the armchair army can be left in peace in the Pyramid field with their papers and the rest of us can forget about this novelty nonsense.

I'd like to think of myself as a "serious" music fan, but love an hour of novelty nonsense over the weekend. Lionel, Dolly, Kenny were just fun and all hugely enjoyable. As mentioned earlier, the last "serious" artist in that slot, Paul Simon, was terrible (I fell asleep half way through).

Don't like it? There's plenty else to see and do.
