Clearly they just missed off the last line because there's no way an Elton legends set for the masses is going to end with Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

There was no Lion King stuff when I saw him a couple of weeks ago. Started with Benny and the Jets, ended on Crocodile Rock. The highlight was him doing Yellow Brick Road & Rocket Man back to back.

Tom Petty would headline after the Isle of Wight no?

I think Elton would be bigger than Lionel depending on clashes.

Wouldn't be too shocked if Sunday looked like....Elton, Adele and Fleetwood Mac

Elton has no sing-along hits.  He's a bigger celebrity than Lionel, but what are his big hits?  I actually have to wreck my brain and the only ones I can com up with are that Lion King song and the one he did with George Michael.

Your Song? Candle In The Wind? Crocodile Rock? I'm Still Standing? Rocket Man? Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word? Saturday Night's Allright? Tiny Dancer? Don't Go Breaking My Heart? Are You Ready For Love? He's probably got more singalongs than Dolly and Lionel put together. Edited by Zac Quinn

It's not just about sales of course (Dolly hasn't sold that much in the UK), but Elton is waaaay ahead in realistic legends we could get, plus would go down well (Cliff and Status Quo would be lukewarm):

1 Beatles

2 Elton John

3 Led Zeppelin

4 Queen

5 Cliff Richard

6 Pink Floyd

7 Rolling Stones

8 Genesis

9 David Bowie

10 Status Quo

He didn't do any at Bestival either. I'm not convinced he would do any really, that's just what I'd want to hear. I do think he would end on a really big hit for the casual fan/those at home. He's savvy enough to give the crowd what they want and the crowd, both at the festival and at home, are not going to be Elton connoisseurs like ourselves.

Reg needs to step the fuck up and make with the Meerkat Music.

Genuinely one of my favourite songwriters. I think when he's good he's incredible.

I'm not doubting his talent (tho his singing could be better). I know who he is.

But compared to Frampton, he's a nobody. Most people know Meat Loaf but don't know who's the talent behind him.

I'd guess that Stu's knowledge gap about Frampton is down to his specific age - where his parents are just a bit too old to have had Comes Alive in their collection and his own age-group were too young to have interest in him. 'Comes Alive' really was one of those "everyone's got it" albums.
