kingcrawler
That's odd - Damon started it for Song 2 at Hyde Park Where do you think he picked it up from? Damon goes "here's something I picked up in Scotland" and leads everyone in chorus of Here We Fucking Go @JamieRoss7 pic.twitter.com/PNpom3Sw9i— Sam Bailey (@samuelbailey) June 13, 2015 It just sounds strange in an English accent Edited July 14, 2015 by kingcrawler
GlastoSimon
I'd have agreed with Mardy until this year - much younger crowd at Glastonbury this year I felt. Might be a sign of the way things are going.
Amy Lawn
Couldn't agree more, and a big part of that is people in their late teens/early 20s. They need to be encouraged to come on their own terms. I see a lot of 25 y.o+ people and a lot of young teens with (nominally) their parents, just hope there's plenty of people in the middle. Teens/early twenties have got T, V, R&L and a whole host of other festivals vying for their attention, which is why you don't see as many as you'd expect. Probably the fact you have to commit the October before, have everybody registered, and can't guarantee a big group will all get tickets means it's not great for them. Personally, I think we're only losing the people who see the festival as a means to get pissed, the people in that age bracket who go to Glastonbury are the ones who see it as different and want to be there, I like to think that helps preserve the atmosphere (but I'm aware I'm sounding a bit Daily Mail all going on about "undesirables" here). I'm 23, pretty much everybody I know who is my age goes to at least one festival a year, but I can't for the life of me get more than 1 or 2 people from my regular circle of friends to come to Glastonbury. The group I was with this year were between 27 - 31, big group and I'd say they're all as into current music scenes as it gets.
CaledonianGonzo
Bit of selection bias at play in people's perspective of the festival, though, surely. You'll come away with a different view of the demographic if you go to see the likes of Skepta and Rudimental instead of Patti Smith and Burt Bacharach. Smitho77
Anyone who thinks the average age of the Glastonbury crowd is high needs to spend more time in Silver Hayes - never felt so old in my life.

Mardy
Not sure. I felt like an old bastard watching the waterboys. Wasn't expecting that Older than the band? fucking hell, it was a maelstrom of heavily receding hair and middle aged menswear being whipped around that stage. They sounded great, but looked like a bowls club on a awayday
Untz
Surely it's how you act and enjoy the festival rather than your age? I had a great chat with a woman in her forties in Shangri La who adored the SE Corner and was fairly disparaging of the main stages. I'd rather have lots of people like her than people of any age who camp out at the Pyramid all day and get offended over the choice of headliners. As for Burt, where I was stood there was one of the youngest crowds at a music stage I saw all weekend.

Quark
On both occasions I had my unfortunate "going white as a sheet and sweating uncontrollably" incidents due to over-indulgence, I was right next to groups of ladies either with families or as friends, who I would guess were mid-40s onwards. And they were very lovely to me and kept an eye on me while I shivered away. Whereas I suspect that youths, hoodies and the like would have filmed me on their youtubes and sent my video to the t'interweb. So I'm all in favour of keeping the more mature demographic! eFestivals
I just clicked thru to a Daily Mirror article about the T chaos, which then had a gallery link ... so i clicked thru to that. To be presented by just photos of Jessie J, looking like her face has been made with cement and a trowel. WTF has she been having done to it? But anyway, more shocking than the state of J's face is the fact that the mirror obviously think she's still popular. The normal pop-star 'falling' and 'cliff' comments are starting to apply to poor old Jessie's career.

Spindles
I think Matt is right though, this was one of the most current other stage lineups in many years, Charlatans, Chems and B&S were as close as they came to heritage this year. On the whole I thought the festival did a good job of focussing on current music rather than heritage, which pleases me a lot as recent lineups had been very heavy on acts whose day has passed. Matt42
If anything - I felt the pyramid catered more to "day has passed" acts quite heavily this year.

Bisque
I think at Glastonbury it depends who you are watching & where you stand. I was at the front for Enter Shikari so most people were aged from teens to late twenties. One of the many reasons I love Glastonbury is that I never feel I have an issue having a chat with people in the crowd during acts or on a jaunt & the age mix is great. The Placid Casual
I was at the front for Enter Shikari so most people were aged from teens to late twenties. I saw them at Leftfield this year and got a massive whack to the face during Juggernauts. I got flung forward as another lad got shoved back and my nose and the back of his head collided. No idea how I got out of that without a broken nose or even a nosebleed. Nose did hurt a little for the next week or so though.

GlastoSimon
Bit of selection bias at play in people's perspective of the festival, though, surely. You'll come away with a different view of the demographic if you go to see the likes of Skepta and Rudimental instead of Patti Smith and Burt Bacharach. Obviously, but I try not to consider it based on the crowd around me at each acts (I'm certainly more of a Patti Smith/Bacharach kind of guy, despite being young myself) I think the crowd was younger this year than any other year I've been going since 2010, merely based on walking around the site etc. Not all 'school leavers age' or anything like that, but there was a hell of a lot more early to mid-20s around, and less 40+ 'oldies' I thought. And bear in mind I hang around the 'oldie' areas (Greenfields, West Holts, Park etc. etc.) more than I do Silver Hayes or anywhere like that, where naturally the demographic is younger. EDIT: Then again, as you say I suspect somebody thought the demographic was much older this year merely by 'walking around the site' Edited July 15, 2015 by GlastoSimon
