Rambling Man Fair

Anyone else go to this at the weekend? I thought it was great. Like a grown up festival with lots of the good points and very few of the negatives of big festivals like Download. Anyways, they are selling early birds for next year and I think with a decent line up it will do really well. It's run by the people who did High Voltage and I  can't see there being much of a cross over appeal with Download but I can see it hurting Sonisphere if they ever had any intention of running again. Blue Oyster Cult, Saxon and Scorpions were ace. Bernie Marsden was outstanding. I've already got my July festival sorted for 2016 then.

We saw this advertised a while back, and were very tempted!  Shame that I'm running short of annual leave for this year - otherwise, we'd have been there.  One to watch for next year, I think!

Out of interest, how much are the early bird tickets?

£89 plus fee so around £99 I think. There were a few Download T shirts there but it was a much older crowd but you'd expect that with the line up. Talk about civilised, there were no queues anywhere and no rubbish. It was surreal! I was very disappointed in Dream Theater and Marillion but apart from that it was a brilliant weekend.

Civilised and no queuing sounds brilliant!  Did anyone watch Greg Allman - any good?

I checked out their website, there were phase 2 weekend tickets available at £115 plus booking fee, but no mention of the 2016 festival - so I've no idea if these were for this year or are for next.  I think I would wait for an indication of what the line up will be like, in any case, before booking tickets.

I went and checked Grag Allman out for about 5 minutes. It was a very disappointing crowd, probably the emptiest the main stage was al weekend.  I dunno if it was a fair reflection of the rest of his set but he was sat at an old piano and it just sounded like an old man jamming down the pub. I went back to Marillion who were spectacularly shit. Wish I'd given the old fella a chance. Their website isn't up and running for next year yet. Early birds are via their Facebook page.

I slummed it in a posh hotel. Will be doing same. There was camping although it's a bit glampier than you'll be used to at Download. I'm going again purely because the Scopyons are playing in town on the Friday night again. A more brutal power drinking session I haven't seen in a long time :) Tickets appear to be selling quicker this time around even though no line up has been announced yet.

Maybe someone knows something we don't? ;)

BOC were brilliant. My band of the weekend but then again they probably were always going to be. Set was way too short though. Never saw Solstafir but wish I had. We were a bit slow getting in but the Quireboys were very good. Riverside seemed to get universal praise but I missed them too.
