2017 festival

So as mentioned in the Download section, Blink are seemingly playing shows in the UK in July which makes them very unlikely to be headlining R/L the following month, so that's a bit of a relief as it would've been an absolutely ridiculous booking, and it makes the speculation a bit more interesting

Royal Blood/You Me At Six

Kasabian

Guns N Roses? (or another big marquee act)

If they would book two of not the same but similar field, a hunch atm would be.

Kasabian

MCR

Paramore

I think that sells well.

I'd be real pleased if that blink-182 info is true, I thought they were awful when they headlined in 2014. Probably wishful thinking but I'm hoping You Me At Six stay at sub level to leave us with something like:

Royal Blood & The Smashing Pumpkins
The Killers, Major Lazer
Paramore, You Me At Six

I think that bottom two is very realistic, I don't see TSP anywhere near and if RB can do that so can YM@6, they aren't a bigger band.

Major Lazer sub for me too I think.

Yeah I kinda just chucked TSP in out of hope really, we're still at the stage of no concrete rumours so I'm still hopeful, though if I'm honest I think if they play any UK festival next year it'll be BST. + YMAS ain't all that.

I've been swapping around Major Lazer, Pendulum, Swedish House Mafia and Chase & Status in my predictions, probably not enough room for all four to be there tho.

Sorry to go all Gazza but You Me at Six still have tix to sell for a 2k capacity gig at Leeds O2 Academy next month and y'all still talking about them headlining the 80k cap festival there next year? Jake Bugg has a sold out gig there and he was just described as 'NME sub if that'.

Not that I want them to, but Reading seem desperate to have new British headliners and their music appeals to GCSE leavers, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them headlining soon. Although The XX are back next year, so I suppose they could be the new British headliner, not sure if they would fit Reading anymore though.

I keep forgetting about Pendulum, them headlining on a UK Exclusive although Creamfields being on it's 20th anniversary is going to try everything to get them for next year. But them, Kasabian and Paramore with RB, YM@6 and Major Lazer under. Catfish, ADTR and Panic as 3rd down. Then Jake Bugg, Enter Shikari and a dance act for NME.

It doesn't appeal to enough GCSE leavers that can travel to Leeds for live music, apparently.

To be honest I'm starting to think that they might just shell out for Royal Blood on an exclusive and have them headline outright rather than getting random acts to coheadline with them.

I guess Northerners just have better taste then...

I don't think the co-headliner thing will take place annually.

It won't, it'll happen when they are stuck for a full headliner band and judging on next year just on what people have said here, unless it was the few seemingly available then you have a few almost but not quite out there.

i don't think it'll be a staple of the festival, but I can definitely see it happening next year. Royal Blood seem far too obvious of a candidate for it to not happen next year (and I'd be surprised if they were given all out headliner status like dental mentioned)

I don't see why they seem far too obvious for it though?, they really aren't as big as you make out they are. Let's see what they have in them next, there are at least two others that are much bigger right now.

It might seem that way now in their absence but considering they were playing third main stage with one album just last year I don't think them co-headlining is at all a stretch. Who are the acts who you'd consider bigger?

They played 3rd stage because it was a UK Exclusive I'm sure?, if they had been booked for say 2/3 others as well they would have been 4th down main max.

Bastille had their 2nd on the way and were only 3rd down equivalent while playing a few festivals and have hit bigger places.

The bands I'd say were bigger:

YM@6
Catfish
Major Lazer even probably right now
Foals/Disclosure from this year are much bigger and only got co-headliner
MCR, 30 STM and Paramore if all in for a shout of booking will all pull hugely.

Just to point out as well, I only like 2 of them really so it's not even a bias view.

I feel that the reason Foals weren't just doing it outright this year was because they weren't exclusive and weren't headlining their other date. Royal Blood could very well end up playing other festivals but I don't see them as any sort of 'obvious coheadliner/unlikely outright' kinda scenario. They'll be that big when they come back that I'd be surprised if they could book two outright headliners that are more in demand than they are.

Anyone else looking to go to one of these Green Day gigs then? So excited for it, been going to gigs since late 2012 and Green Day are far and away top of what's left of my must see list. I'm in work Friday morning though so I've got to put other people in charge of sorting tickets though which never ends well for me.

Could paramore return as a coheadliner? Or are they outright headline material now

i wouldn't say they've gotten any bigger since last time (although new album is yet to be released) but i can't see them coming back as anything other than an outright headliner. doubt it'll happen next year though - i'm guessing they'll just do their own tour rather than any festivals

Paramore probably should've headlined outright last time to be fair.

Yeah, Pulp/The Strokes and QOTSA/Paramore were proper coheadliners where there's genuine debate about whether the acts are subliners or headliners. Now it seems like an excuse to cheap out and book two subs.
