BMTH, Kasabian and The Strokes (whether that is with RB too or not) are the ones I'm expecting most because, like you said, it ticks a lot of boxes. Kanye would be the dream but I can't see it happening. Get them on an exclusive after they play everywhere else, nah. It's RB, not Foo's who did R&L last, also didn't sell out their day. No reason why The Strokes would headline outright now if not on a comeback year.

They would have headlined outright in 2011 if it wasn't for Pulp becoming available after the headliners were booked.

Heard they were poor at Glastonbury but would be an interesting booking for R&L. Rob da Bank has said on Twitter that Gorillaz aren't doing any UK Festivals in 2017. Oo I completely missed that. I assume he tried to get them for Bestival then.
siweltrebor
Is NME even a force to be reckonned with these days, their magazine has dropped from some opinionated garbage with some nice aerial photos of my fave festivals to a throwaway freebie and mostly an online presence, surprised they still sponsor the stage at this rate to be honest. Radio one also seem to be increasing their influence at V Festival so I wouldn't be surprised to see that develop and their involvement at Reading/Leeds starts to drop down the priority order aside from the presenters who love and cover the place like James, Stephens and Carter. DirtyChorizo
kasabian, kanye, royal blood/AltJ (co-headline) possibly arcade fire if they release something new but they're probably too left field for the reading crowd now which is a shame since i'd definitely go assuming AF replace kasabian's supposed spot. Arcade Fire are a tricky one to place - i think they still could do R/L, but i just don't think they'll be booked for next year, and with them only having done Glastonbury a couple of years ago and IOW looking like it might not go ahead at all i struggle to think of a festival over here that would have them. surely too big for the likes of Latitude and Bestival at this point as well. maybe they'll just stick with their own shows

You think blink will do a UK Arena tour in July, then stick around Europe for all of August before headlining Reading? Also taking into account the obvious loss in ticket sales Reading and Leeds would suffer from said tour happening a month before their festival? Pop Punk Sucks
They're touring in July anyway so it's redundant even discussing them

thelemon
I think missing out on Kasabian would be a shame, they're the perfect R+L act in my opinion - huge band, been around for a while, about to make a comeback album (probably), generally well-liked (perhaps not on here) and plenty of festival-size anthems. They're supposed to be fantastic live, and they've not played since 2012, so they're surely going to be available, especially since they won't be doing T, V or Glastonbury. I agree with all of that I think. Although you could probably say the same about both The Strokes and The Killers, except Kasabian have headlined more recently than both: 2011 and 2008 respectively. I'd agree with The Strokes, except they've not reaply got any bigger since 2011, and they only co-headlined then. I'd love them to play though.
