The different is the other two are just hip hop. He sold out 6 02 dates at least, Reading want sales so there is us. You must be stupid to consider Drake alternative and Kanye to not be. OscarEB
Just to clarify, I didn't mean alternative in its actual sense, but more as an alternative to the other 2 headliners which are more typically suited to Leeds fest - see Momford and Disclosure

Thought they'd have taken a bit of time off, but I guess this makes them more of a possibility.

Kasabian, a heavier band (Foo, Linkin Park, etc) and an alternative headliner (Gorillaz, Drake etc) would do for me Which song is that? The only 'new' one I've heard recently is Peace Of Mind which is a Sams Town-era demo.

Really hope we get some album/tour news from them soon. But tbh I'd rather they put out nothing than an album on par with Battle Born, which was mostly terrible. The standard of Brandon's second solo album last year and his comments regarding Battle Born not being good enough give me hope that it'll be a return to form this time around though. Looking forward to the new Christmas song, maybe it'll give us an idea of what direction they're going in.
siweltrebor
Am I wrong to expect Blink 182 and Linkin Park at Reading this year, with something else a little more British for good measure.
siweltrebor
I think Reading and Leeds will also get the likes of Royal Blood, Wolf Alice, maybe a returning type like Thirty Seconds to Mars.

Neither will be there. Linkin Park the more likely of the two but still very unlikely due to when they're in Europe and not really being an appealing headliner for the festival in 2017. Blink are as good as 100% ruled out. Linkin Park are unlikely but you never know, seems like there's a few more appealing acts available for R&L to book over Linkin Park unless they did what they did at Download and played Hybrid Theory in full, that or Meteora. BMTH have pretty much said outright next time they play it'll be as outright headliners or not at all. Also A7x would probably sub at Reading which they would likely turn down for the fear Andy Copping would say they've devalued themselves and they don't get to headline Download next year. Pop Punk Sucks
He said the same thing about System of a Down and look at them. He doesn't have the luxury of turning his nose up at the likes of System and Avenged as headliners
dentalplan
But it's much less likely to happen now that the same company runs both festivals, so it'd actually be in Melvin's interests to not 'devalue' a Download headliner. Gozpot
SoaD are considerably bigger than A7x and it's surprising SoaD ever took the sub spot.

Reading seems to do it because they want to get steadier sales throughout the year, even though ultimately they'd likely end up with the same sales more or less. dentalplan
They have to have time to actually sort out the line up though, and Download takes place at the start of the summer so they shift focus to the next year way before R+L would.
