Definitely think we're in for an Alt-J and someone co-headline.

Someone like Bastille, Royal Blood, The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Major Lazer, The Prodigy etc.

If we have Eminem and Kasabian the third booking would have to be smaller for sure.

Franz Ferdinand will never get anywhere near the top of the bill ever again. They're completely irrelevant in 2016/17.

Being really picky, but they said that they would like to headline on their own, not as a co-headliner. Doesn't mean they couldn't co-headline.

Due to how recent it was I think we can take it as fact that they won't be headlining unless they are alone, they don't need to co-headline at the end of an album when they could come back with a new album and headline alone.

Royal Blood and BMTH would be an enormous coheadline come the time of the fest.

I am veering more towards Royal Blood headlining on their own now though. The remaining day should probably be a heavier type of day (unless Eminem's one is; not implausible) and if BMTH have packed in the tour by then, there's only one other option in my mind. They probably would still sub at competing festivals but I don't think it'd look that bad on R+L - might even get those people wanting to see them crack the big one.

I'm also going for Royal Blood outright, too. However, I think they will have the 'heavier' day under them.

I'd be happy for them if they get to do it, because they were really, really impressive in 2015.

Royal Blood are surely not outright headlining, their debut might have been extremely popular but giving them a solo headline slot without even announcing another album or releasing a song and it's nearly Christmas? Just can't see it.

I wouldn't be surprised with a co-headline slot for them but outright just isn't happening.

Had no idea you felt this way pause not.

The Black Keys seem to be coming back, I'd say they'd be a pretty good headliner for next year

Maybe as a co-head with Alt J, Tame Impala or Royal Blood etc, but surely not on their own. Not a fan of co headlines though, would rather they just give someone the opportunity when they have another 2 big headliners. Royal Blood on their own would be interesting, but brave. I believed the Alt J co-head hype before the Eminem rumour, but surely now we're in line for someone heavier? Linkin Park are out again and are doing the French and Spanish DL, but not the English...coincidence...?

No coincidence, they've just realised they're complete arse and that nobody in the UK likes their crap music anymore.

Well, that's how I would like to imagine it going down...

I don't get all the protest against Royal Blood being pushed up, it's good for British music if they get the bump up to headliner. Anyone thinking that they're next album isn't going to make them blow up something ridiculous (even more so) is kidding themselves.

If Linkin Park headline and don't play Hybrid Theory or Meteora in full then it'd be a pointless booking, although it'd be a big push i'd much rather have Royal Blood headline over Linkin Park.

I don't think we are guaranteed a heavier headliner just because we are expecting Eminem and Kasabian, although i'd hope that they would make atleast one of the headliners something heavier.

Do feel kinda daft talking about the 'heavy headliner' like it's a rule but at the same time what's the point in booking a rock/metal/punk stage and having those genres littered across the line up when you're not attempting to book headliners to hook fans of that stuff in?

Hybrid Theory has been done so I don't think that it would happen again. Meteora isn't half as notable as Hybrid Theory, though. Which has sold 28 million copies. TWENTY-EIGHT MILLION. Which makes it the best selling debut album of the 21st Century and the biggest selling hard rock album of the 21st Century, too. Absolute madness.

You make a good point but equally i think they aren't going to book a heavier headliner just to have one if there isn't anyone who particularly suits or would be a good booking.

That said R&L aren't exactly known for good bookings.

28 million? I knew it was big but that's incredible, had no idea to the extent which that sold. If they got Linkin Park to do Hybrid Theory and Meteora back to back i would be happy with that as a booking.

I never realised until earlier on this year, either. That album did crazy numbers. Ruined heavy music in the mainstream though, didn't it. Hybrid Theory is the reason the rock press are pushing Twenty One Pilots as a rock band in 2016. Bastards.
