I can only speak for German fests but this year's lineup is still a lot better than what you would get at Rock am Ring/Hurricane these days. It might be sub par for Werchter, but Rammstein + RHCP is something and there certainly is enough decent stuff in the undercard.

RAR is pissing on Werchter this year imo. RAR has got two bands I can see that makes Wercter better which is Band of Horses and ATDI and both aren't available as touring overseas.

She'll be a sub with Ellie as a sub and Disclosure a closing dance act by the looks it, it says pop headliner to me...RiRi.

In recent years Pink subbed Rammstein, Portishead subbed Coldplay, The National subbed Green Day, ... The booking of Ellie Goulding says nothing about the headliner, especially considering she was probably already booked before Pearl Jam pulled out.

Either way it won't be Rihanna. A newspaper revealed the real reason for possibly cancelling her Boutique show: she shifted less than 5000 tickets in the first 2 months of sales. Then you might as well promote The National to a headlining spot, saves them money and criticism while drawing the same number of people.

Obvs the Rihanna was part joking but fairplay on the subs for other people. Thing is this time though, who wants to play before a dance act closing, I'm guessing neither of them lot had an act close after them.

Fair thing, reassuring people who didn't catch the joke either then ;) you're right about the dance act though, I can see neither Radiohead nor Springsteen agreeing to playing before Disclosure.

Also, based on the current poster I'd say that Years & Years, Paul Kalkbrenner and Jamie XX are KluB C closers.

I'm guessing KluB C is the 2nd biggest stage yes?

Springsteen will play too long for Disclosure to close and no Radiohead aren't doing it as they'd just do their own money show in Belgiam if that was the option. Netsky did finish after Green Day mind and they would have played at least two hours.

I do think it would be out already if it was anyone major although FF could still happen and them sharing a header has been known.

KluB C is the smallest of the 3 stages. It has about 10k capacity and usually most of the top KluB C acts each day are dance/party acts.

Ah okay so the Barn is the middle one. This being said, I have seen pics of the Barner and it reminds me of an NME tent. I'm goinf to presume it out of the realms that Disclosure would headline that?, I don't know their size in Belgium.

Looking at their other festivals positions and RW tradition of dance act as main stage closer on the 1st. Night, it looks like they gonna play as main stage closer.

Yes The Barn is HUGE. Easily one of the 3 biggest tents in Europe.

Which probably gives you a very small handful of rock acts that are willing to go on before a dance closer.

Maybe some acts have problems with it but from past lineups it seems that many do not care.  Metallica, FF, PJ, KoL, Green Day, The Cure, M&S,  Lenny Kravitz, Arctic Monkeys, Linkin Park,  RATM have all played in the recent years before a dance act. Thursday is the least problematic day as usually music played till late so the headliner  can play long sets in complete dark most of their set even if there is someone afterwards.

Oh I didn't know the music played until later. Radiohead or Springsteen aren't doing that either way.

I'm still punting on FF.

What does everyone reckon the new Hive Resort will be like? Decided to rent a tent there this year because the experience of carrying the tent and queuing with the tent in the crowd and heat then fighting for a space to pitch like it's the hunger games is the worst part of the holiday so it's worth the extra money in my eyes, now I'm just hoping the tents aren't cramped haha

I bought with 9 friends "my resort package" in the hive resort...so we'll go with our own tents but I think 55€ for a reserved place (and some other facilities) is well spent (considering how is usually the festivals campsite).

I was very close with just going with the resort package space but figured for the extra 40 odd euro we'd just go all in and get the tent. Hopefully it's well worth the money- and by the description on the site it should be- but if not, oh well, live and learn :P

I hope so...However I know Rock Werchter repeats itself...

Yes and they have already rebooked Florence... Considering all the touring major bands, to rebook 2 major acts of last year would be surprising !

Springsteen is the last headliner. Years &Years aren't big enough to headline Klub C.
