Yeah, looks it. Already bought my ticket for BCN but the flights aren't exactly cheap on the dates that the festival is on and the hotels in Porto are ridiculously cheap as is the festival ticket and flights so might keep an eye on what the line ups are like and go from there.

I haven't been to any festivals outside the UK but have booked for Porto next year.

Even with flights and accommodation it was cheaper than UK options, and everything I read sounded really positive.

Just hoping for a great line-up now :)

I really need the Porto lineup to be incredible because I want to do that instead.

Was hoping for Chelsea Wolfe, but with an appearance at Roadburn nearly 2 months before, is it really likely? Can't imagine someone sticking around Europe for that long while on tour

I went to both Barcelona and Porto in 2014, the line-up for the latter is much smaller - I'd compare previous years to get an idea of how much so. The headliners are largely the same but a lot of the mid-level acts were absent.

Porto is a great city, very cheap too. Compared to Barcelona, where the security around site seems almost invisible, the large police presence was really noticeable. As the stages finish for the night the crowd is kind of kettled toward the exit.

Having said that, I had a really good time.

The big prob is this is always on bank holiday week and the flights are always £££ Last year week ended up getting some food in Barcelona and it cost more than you'd spend all week in Porto.

That Sunday is also the Sunday at the end of the summer half-term for schools - anyone who has kids at school (or works in a school) has to be back for the Monday.

Yeah, there is that as well. There's a good chance that I might stay out there and the missus brings the kids over for a week's family holiday on the Costa Dorada or Brava as our kids holidays (Trafford Council) end the week after.

Holiday for them, recovery for me more like.

I live near Porto, and in the last three editions worked in bars of Primavera Barcelona and in the last two editions I enjoy Primavera Porto. I'm quite happy with your praise respect the portuguese Primavera, the space is the most natural, beautiful, and everything is cheaper.  buuuuttt always loved the atmosphere of Barcelona, despite being in work, and as the size and line up does not compare.

This year I will finally pleasure Primavera Barcelona, with 3 more friends, and we had a contest to see who hits in the line up, with a headliner, bandwidth media / small size, and a dj. These are our guesses:

Peixe - Massive Attack | King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard | Breakbot
Joana - Beck | Future | Aphex Twin
Marco - Alabama Shakes (lool headliner!?) | Retiree | Romare
Me - Pj Harvey | Beach House | Jamie XX

Neil Young's announcement of a UK/Euro tour today, beginning 5th June, could make things interesting.
No Spanish date, but looks like he's doing mainland after the UK

Also whispers that Yeah Yeah Yeahs are back in the studio and planning world tour next year, all be it can't find any sort of reliable source for this. Would love if it happened though, they'd be a perfect headliner for me.

Well, I wouldn't say 'now' because that's the same weekend as what had us suggesting him in the first place, but yeah. :P

LCD are being linked to Bonnaroo now (by forum itks and such, same type that started the whole rumour though) as well. That'd weaken the chances of a PS show wouldn't it?

In my opinion, If LCD reform, they'll play PS.

Actually I can say here that a "group X" is rumored for Primavera Sound and someone who reads it can say in another forum that he read here that this group is rumored for PS and that weakens the chance to have it a Governor's Ball. Rumors on forums most of the time are pure bullshit :)

The very fact that they haven't announced anyone at all.....the first time they have not !made an advance announcement, points the finger at LCD or Radiohead. Like I've bsaid before... Beck will most likely play....as will Sigur Ros; I can only imagine that the marque act has either an exclusive announcement deal (LCD w/coachella) and they must wait till that announcement is made OR......they are waiting for Oxford's for finest to can their album.

I just don't see Radiohead happening. Notoriously slow with releasing albums, and to be honest they just don't seem interested too much. One (short mediocre) album since 2007, Thom and Phil keep doing their solo stuff, Jonny playing with the indian band, almost no news, I just don't see them suddenly breaking into a festival frenzy this summer.

Even if they do, the sad truth is, I'll be really surprised if their new album is great. They seemed to have lost interest, it will probably be mediocre, and they'll probably play all of it and stick on Paranoid Android at the end to shut up the crowd. And Thom's live voice is quite awful these days.

This really saddens me as Radiohead are one of my favorite bands ever, but I think I might have missed the ship on seeing them do a great live show again.

I wouldn't tend to agree there about Radiohead. In Rainbows came out in 2007 and is, in my opinion, probably their best album. Then KoL in 2011 was really good I thought, though not one of their best. They've had some side stuff in the last few years but they still played a ton of shows between 2008 and 2012. I don't really see what makes you think they can't be arsed anymore.

Few announcements for a mid July French festival.

http://www.vieillescharrues.asso.fr/2016/programmation

Disclosure and hopefully Etienne De Crecy the most likely for PS? Hopefully not the Editors

And would the Libertines be a likely fit? I would have said for Benicassim (they've an announcement tomorrow) but they headlined it in 2014.
