cold calling

When I was about 15, I answered the door (stupidly) to a one of the Jehovah Witnesses, anyway being a good catholic lad (well I went to a catholic school :P)  then.  We had a little talk about God and what it meant to be good. The guy at the door then invited me to study the bible, said we could go study the bible in his car around the corner if I didn't want to my parents. The door got shut rather swiftly after that!

On topic: Bristol Greenpeace seem quite desperate to get in contact with me this week!

okay....are you SURE they were Jehovah Witnesses?

If so, they must have been incredibly naïve.

I get annoyed when they target/try to save vulnerable people, people grieving, underage people etc.

The ones who came to visit me brought along a new recruit who was 'shadowing' them, I suppose - (it's quite corporate for a religion) and got her to tell me her past drug and sexual history - it was a bit like a confessional, she must have felt totally humiliated, and she seemed like she'd been a troubled and unhappy individual. I have mixed feelings about the impact of her conversion - on the one hand, she'd been given a social network and a purpose, but she's also been made to feel like a sinner, and it's arguable as to whether she was still being used.

and they were completely opposed to homosexuality, and men with long hair - that was a dealbreaker for me :D

They sound like an intolerant lot. Where's the love of the Lord?

Anyway, I haven't yet looked in to them because I got distracted. I get to live another day as me.

Well they had the literature and I did see them knocking on other doors. I think it was just a poor choice of wording, that rings alarm bells when you are that bit older to understand the connotation but  not quite old enough to put it in context.
