NOS ALIVE 2016

A friend of mine is still dithering about booking her flights. I've been to festivals with her for 4 out of the past 5 years and it wouldn't be the same if she didn't show up. We're making a holiday of it too. Been told by a few people that Lisbon is awesome so can't wait. Staying in the Barrio Alto as my mate says that's a good area.

Anyone that's been before, how difficult is it to get into the Heineken tent, especially later on?

Don't think I have ever seen this before, both the live act (Soulwax) and the dj set (2manydjs) on the same day on one festival. I don't know that much about them but normally I think that there will be quite some Soulwax material in the 2manydjs set so I guess that 2manydjs will have to play more covers than usual. Would be quite lame to have overlapping sets with songs that you could have seen live 2 hours before.

Still 10 acts TBA for the Heineken stage now. For the 8th I'm totally cool with some local Portugese buskers but hopefully they have some aces up their sleeve for the 7th and 9th. Maybe another act from Bilbao BBK such as Blossoms, Blood Red Shoes or Underworld (quite big for 2nd stage but so is Two Door Cinema Club)

Trains ran through the night last year both to Cascais and Cais do Sodre, the beaches of Cascais and Estoril are really good to visit during the day time and both have good bars and restaurants to go to. Alcohol prices were very reasonable too, I remember last year paying 4 euros for a pint at a festival. Best areas to go to are Bairro Alto for nightlife and Restaurants, its up a hill. Also recommend going to the LX Factory its full of small individual shops and independent restaurants. Lisbon a nice city and very reasonable. I really enjoyed NOS last year and apart from Glastonbury dont really want to go to a festival in the UK again

All depends on the band that are on to be honest. Last year Kodaline played a middle slot and it was packed right out back from the screen outside, but then others who were on later were easier to see.

There are remixes such as those of Daft Punk and Justice, which have been played by both acts. Officially they are listed as Soulwax remixes but I guess Soulwax will focus on their own album material and 2manydjs more on the remixes/covers.

New user here. Coming from NYC with my girlfriend. I was wondering what the deal with camping is? Why does the official NOS Alive camping video make it seem like a teenage summer camp? Is that what it is?

 

BTW, down for Soulwax but would be more down for a little Despacio tent like they're having a Coachella. Murph's already there and the Dewaele brothers are close

I'm thinking of Chems into 2manydjs and Radiohead into Hot Chip mainly (if that is the order) which I imagine will be difficult but would probably also head in to the tent between NOS stages acts as the Heineken lineup is also really strong.

7th and 8th are great but... M83 followed by Arcade Fire is something special for me!

Agreed, it should be great.  I can't get too excited about this new album though, what do you think of the first tracks from Junk?

Do it, Try it is fun, Solitude is a great track but Go is too pop for me... the guitar solo is great and should be nice live but I can't wait for the whole album. The last 2 songs played yesterdayare yet unheard so I hope they're better

Last year exactly one week before the start of the festival. Hopefully sooner this year because I like to have a playlist with artists I will visit so it would be nice to know which artists are clashing.

Edit: in 2014 they weren't really fast either: timetable published exactly 2 weeks before the start of the festival

Hmm I'm starting my eurotrip 1 week exactly before the festival starts, and I'd need a day to think about the clashes and listen to the less known artists that I know I will be able to see!

Totally useless, that's just something that is made up by an individual. The only thing we know (not even 100% sure) is the playing order of the NOS stage from the website. The starting time and length of the sets differs each year. For the Heineken and clubbing stage were basically in the dark about the order of the acts or even the exact number of acts each day.

Ah ok. I know with other festivals they tend to become more accurate as more information is leaked by the organisers and also the bands etc.

Rick Smith from Underworld was interviewed by a portuguese radio and said that Underworld were going to play on Portugal in the summer.

M83 new album has leaked and has some pretty good songs

I'll give it a few more listens to know which are my favorite songs but Bibi The Dog (what a name!) is good!

It's out tomorrow I think isn't it? Will definitely take a listen. Re-listened to the tracks that have been released today, only really liked Do It, Try It, regardless I look forward to seeing them live (unless they clash with Grimes)

It's out the 08th but probably US time? anyway it leaked today and I couldn't resist... will probably buy it though.

Grimes/M83 clash would be horrendous. Hopefully they don't but if they do I hope to see one at Glasto... but even that looks unlikely at the moment :/
