This has been restored, if anyone's in North Yorkshire this year, there'll be trips out and chances to see it in action.

I put it to you that your IT work is for the North Yorkshire Tourist Board and I claim my £5. :)

I can only recall one trip on a steam train. It was a trip on The Severn Valley Railway with lunch included. It would have been quite a nice experience had my dining partner not been a sociopath.

Ha ha, no, my occasional turns in the office aren't at that council, but one close by... A friend worked at the museum and we went on a trip around Yorkshire on one train, which inspired me to keep an eye out for this train coming along.

I'd love to go on one of those little mountain trains that they have in India. I saw a documentary once on how they kept the things going and was fascinated about them from that point onwards.

If you want a bit of train porn, have a look at seat61.com, it's got loads on trains from all over, including inside the sleeper trains and stuff. I'm off to bed now with my (travel) magazine and a beer. Rock and roll.

My problem is that I'm crap when it comes to trains. I'm the person that goes up to the guard every minute checking that I'm on the right platform, that it is indeed X time when the train is leaving, and that we are indeed on the planet earth - oh, and what did he really think of the Casey Jones burgers that they used to sell when I was a lad.

I see a few folks are coming out finally.  Here's a full frontal, should raise excitement levels a little.

Edit, oops a day early!!

Have to go with this oldie instead.
