Boomtown Festival 2016

Hello Boomtowners! How is everyone this morning? I attended last year for the first time and wow, what a party.  I am lucky enough that it's my birthday on the Friday this year! Going to go completely nuts! What was everyone's favourite part of last years festival? Mine was probably Flogging Molly (which was nuts) or the Skints taking over the lions den on the Sunday! If you're going for the first time, then hello! You're gonna love it! What are you most looking forward to?

I'm a similar age and we produce The Rusty Spurs ( Wild West) and play in a couple of bands ( The Boot Hill All Stars & The Back Wood Redeemers). Yep its tiring if you are wanting to roam around all day, but Neil has pretty much summed it up. I really enjoy the mix of ages, but there's a fair few ( loads) of the over 40's hanging out up townJust to add....the whole thing is a fully interactive theatrical experience - you can take part as much or as little as you fancy. There's a sitewide storyline that each area participates in, with own theatrical direction. Last year punters really got involved, did citizenship tests ( getting stuff from each area), dressed for their chosen camping areas etc etc......or wandered around, watched bands and watched the world go by....or both. I'm blown away by the enormity of the concept and how it's working - and it's a LOT of fun

Yeah, always love a bit of Funk and Soul. I'm guessing that the new Windmill stage is somewhere near where the Old Mines Stage used to be before it moved last year?

it was at the top of that drag, that it was at the bottom of last year.

When you go the top beyond Whistler's Green, you turn left for Lion's Den, and right to go down thru the woods and then steps to the bowl. Right in front of you there there's a space, which is where the Old Mine was in 2014.

the Lions Den usually starts at around midday and runs to 11pm-ish (I forget the exact times).

If they do things the way they normally do, Damian will open that stage on the Friday.

Can anyone tell me how strict they are about the 'no tents in campervan field'? friends are trying to decide whether to camp or take their van but want us to camp with them......

virtually everyone near us had a van/camper plus a tent.

next door last time had a tent just for table tennis and slept in Their VW

I'm pretty sure what they mean is you can't have a tent there less you already have a campervan space.  You get a set area in which to park

not as far as I can remember seeing, nope.  It's not really a festival for shopping.

Nowhere to buy beer then other than tap at crazy prices? Some festivals have supermarkets for food essentials and crates etc...

Nope, but the prices are not that bad actually.

Not sure I know of any festival that has a supermarket selling crates inside, only ones I know of are festivals such as Reading where there is seperate arena/campsite.

Actually - thinking about it, you're right, Leeds is the only one I remember this at.

Shame they've got a limit at Boomtown - 16 beers is a ridiculously low amount to bring in. Anyone know how strict they are on this? Looking forward to my first Boomtown but I do find the rule a bit unfair.
