It's my first Boomtown and bringing my camper van.  The info on the website states no tents in the camper van fields.  Has anyone stayed in a van before and if so how strict were they about popups next to the van?

Thanks

I reckon about 80% of vans had a tent too. As long as it stays in your allocated rectangle and not in the Fire lanes we've never had an issue in 3 visits.

We're taking an awning and I checked with Boomtown and they said same, as long as its in your space.

How strict are the CV searches?

the first year I went (4 years ago?) I entered the site at the top where the CV's do, and got hit by a massive search set-up - going thru every van with security firstly and then police with dogs.

I guess they weren't doing that for all of the time that vans were entering, but I'd also guess there's a chance you'll hit something like this.

If anyone was to recommend a few acts to check out who would it be?

What's the night life (after the "main stages" finish) like? Places to check out?

For me, my must see acts are Beans on Toast (a folk singer . songwriter), Showhawk Duo (includes acoustic covers of 90's dance music), Sonic Boom Six (a punk, reggae, rap band from UK) and The Lagan (an amazing Irish punk band).

Night life wise there is literally too much to mention, go in any doorway after dark and there will be something happening. Based on my recollections from last year, The Park Hotel was amazing and Charlie Browns Casino. But in all honesty everything tends to mould in to one when you're there ...

Cheers. Might have to give Beans on Toast a go. Always see him on festival line ups but haven't had the pleasure yet.

What sort of music can be found in the nightlife places? Does it depend on the area?

late night areas hehe lots of drum and bass but you shouldn't have a problem finding some variety.

The venue count seems to stand at 120 so you've got about half an hour at each place to see it all ish/not at all - good luck everyone

Check out By the Rivers, playing China town (I think)

I saw about 3 mins the first time then full set last time, now one of my favourite bands.

Brit reggae officially but the harmonies and song writing I barely view it as Reggae. Tight band, check them out

some lovely Leicester lads, and a great band. I happened to see their first festival show at Summer Sundae about a decade ago.

For those who like their concious reggae in full rasta styleeee, check out IQulah Rastafari who's playing the hidden woods. I'm a big reggae fan but he'd passed me by entirely until I saw him last summer and thought he was superb (I've since checked him out on YouTube and been less impressed, so I guess that live is the best way to hear him). Him not being on the Lion's Den has revealed that stage as the pop stage to me.

A wide range. From folk to rap. More about the talent and passion. Tend to avoid repetitive dance sort of music and DJ's.

In terms of rap/hip hop there's quite a lot this year. The Mouse Outfit, Dr Syntax and Pete Canon, Pharoahe Monch, Foreign Beggars are all stand outs. Other good lesser known acts for me are Mokoomba, Morgan Heritage, Joe Driscoll & Sekou Kouyate and Nightmares on Wax

Cheers, I'll have a flick through spotify

Anyone know how strict they are with enforcing the alcohol limit? Does it have to be taken in when you get wristband?

Any late night areas that play rock? What about hip hop/rap?

Just looking on the map, the silent disco on the Sunday, is this because of noise curfews?
