Just listening to their album now, and I'm confused - I'm actually enjoying it! I really thought I'd hate it (I'm not a fan of AM) and I've consequently avoided listening to anything of theirs, but this is a pleasant surprise. Might actually check them out at Glastonbury, clashes permitting.

I don't like AM either, but really like TLSP.  Heard and liked the first album before I was fully aware of the connection, so I was not listening to them biased the first time, which helped. Saw them a couple of weeks ago, they were great live. I'll probably not see them twice in such quick succession if there's anything else that takes my fancy, but in the unlikely event there's not, I wouldn't hesitate.

When (and where) are they actually rumoured to be playing?

They're probably (maybe definitely?) Saturday based on their tour dates. 3rd down Pyramid is what we're pretty much all predicting with the odd person thinking they'll headline JP (Other Stage is full if we're to believe Neil's info of it being The 1975 > CHVRCHES > New Order).

Personally I hope they play the JP rather than the Pyramid. Having seen them recently, unless they bulk their sound up they'll be swallowed by the stage.

I doubt they will be, high other is the only chance I think and unless they are 3rd under PJ it's not too likely.

Or subbing above PJ!

It's possible but I'm working with the idea on here of Y&Y and Catfish taking 3rd down Other Friday/Sunday. If it goes that way then Y&Y, PJ, TLSP is a great run. Stick BOH on before Y&Y and I'm propped up :). Who would be 3rd on Pyramid Saturday instead though I'm not sure.

  • 4 weeks later...

Was struggling to get into the new album to begin with however it's slowly but surely growing on me now

First time at glasto so not really sure where they'd fit in but would love to see them headline a smaller stage

The more I listen to the new album, the better it gets. Some absolutely great songs on there, 'Sweet Dreams, TN'  being my favourite.

Definitely looking forward to seeing these more than anyone else, joint first with Foals...

Watching these on the radio 1 event. Turner seems to have wandered into some very dodgy substances. He is all over the shop. Miles Kane is trying to hold it together at the moment.

Turner has completely lost the plot. Interviews with him these days are cringeworthy. Still writing great songs, though. Top album is Everything You've Come To Expect.

I though he had started to lose it ever since humbug with AM I thought it was all the fame getting to him but that might be only half the issue! Still I like this new LSP album and can't wait to see them in a few weeks!

fame and cocaine - it's a slippery slope. just waiting for his Be Here Now

It's quite interesting that he hasn't had his Be Here Now really. He's been releasing consistently fantastic, and, in my opinion, ever-improving records for 10 years now. Not many artists have that level of consistency. Whatever it is that's been going on with him the last few years doesn't seem to have affected his songwriting.

yep he's doing alright - going down the Fleetwood Mac Rumours cocaine route rather than the Gallagher brothers route. he's absolutely unwatchable in interviews and even on stage i can't help but cringe at him, but the recorded output is top notch, even when working with Miles Kane

Yeah I agree with the both of you - his songwriting talent grows at a similar rate to his ego and there's not much reason to expect it all to fall in on the next album.

I've been thinking Arctics will headline again next year, though I won't make the mistake of seeing them again.

Turner is a genius, but then most rock geniuses are complete penises (EDIT : penii? :-S).  Something to do with being elevated to the status of a god in the eyes of your fans, believing your own hype, and really good expensive drugs.

God i wish i was a rock star. :-)

Add to the list: having Bowie, Jagger and Macca complimenting him probably elevated his ego to a new level.
