I'm not seeing their name rumoured much on here for next year, but presuming they have a new album coming up in 2017 they might well be offering up their services......

I think they'll be at R&L next year. Haven't played there since 2012 having released 2 albums in that time, and they're perfect for the festival.

Seriously? That Mumford set was so dull. Kasabian whilst their music isn't that great (with the exception of the debut) know how to get people moving. I do agree it's too soon for them to return, but they did well enough to justify a return for sure.

Well I was at neither set (wasn't even at the festival in 2013) and I'd see neither if they were re-booked. I just think Kasabian are a bunch of arseholes who I'd rather pissed off for good.

No offence to anyone who's a fan.

They have options, but what if said options are or become unavailable?

Let's say that a good mix of headliners for next year would be Maonna, Kendrick Lamar and Ed Sheeran. But what if two of them say no?  Maybe Madonna doesn't want to do it and Kendrick takes the money to go somewhere else.   So who else do they choose?  Swizzle is off the road, as are Fleetwood Mac. AC/DC are a busted flush. Prince isn't doing it. Oasis still haven't reformed and Reni has left The Stone Roses again.

Then the phone rings and it's that Wilf t-shirt guy from off of Kasabian offering his services.....

If all of them options are took away, I still think there's enough for them not to become so desperate already. You missed out an obvious choice in Foo Fighters there. They could look to bring in an older artist again like Neil Young, McCartney, Springsteen. They also have people like Noel, The Strokes, Biffy, The Killers - who a lot of people would moan about, but I think they would explore them options if desperate before re-booking AM or Kasabian so early. There's even The Cure who haven't played for over 20 years. Then we move onto the year after and you get more options available again.

You might be starting to look at AM and Kasabian getting booked after 2 new albums, but I don't think there's any worry about it for every album.

Still a couple of obvious ones like Depeche Mode and Beyonce. Radiohead obviously if they don't do it this year. Jay-Z? Queens of the the Stone Age? There'll surely be enough viable alternatives to a one album return of Arctic Monkeys or Kasabian.

Heck, even someone like Calvin Harris. Although I'm not sure whether I'd prefer that as a booking.

Maybe they might even give Gorillaz another chance if so desperate?

You two mostly listing out bands that are - from Glastonbury's perspective - the bottom of the barrel doesn't really shake a view that Glasto would jump at the chance to book Arctic Monkeys again. The likes of The Killers and Biffy actually represent desperation moreso.

Yup. If the bill is suddenly topped by the Biffy Clyro / Strokes / Killers trifecta then it's time to #prayforglastonbury

You could swap out any of those for the Gorillaz too and I'd feel the same.

In that year the last headliner would just be russy playing the last post.

In that case, based on this chart and extrapolating globally, the likes of Mumford and the Lads and Florence and the Lads are still ahead of them:

Some worldwide stuff on this site, not sure how good or accurate the site is, or who they are http://tsort.info/music/yearsa.htm

They also have an overall album chart, which is worth a glance http://tsort.info/music/albums.htm

I agree that some are last resorts. I do think some of them would get the phonecall before AM and Kasabian next year though. AM won't be about until at least 2018 anyway I think. Thy might look outside of the box for a headliner if necessary
