It should be like this for all gigs. In the event you can't make it, you could return your tickets to the supplier (maybe, say, til 48 hours before the gig or something). So nobody can tout and if it turns out you can't go you're not stuck with useless expensive tickets.

That is the lesser of two evils nd a small price to pay for the extinction of touts. I mean, how many times has this actually happened to you out of all the gigs you attend?

I've never been in the situation where I'm giving a ticket away for a show, but I've bought tickets through sites like scarlet mist for quite a few shows, most notably the Slowdive show in Village Underground.

Well, maybe. I last saw them on the AM tour at Earls Court and it was £35 so that would be a fairly steep jump. But they've released 5 albums, headlined festivals etc etc. £50 for TLSP when we've heard one album from them is pretty cheeky.

And yeah, obviously I could just decide not to go. I'm only this annoyed because I know I'm going to pay it.

I was put off going to see TLSP in 2008 by the fact that it cost more to see them - a brand new band - than Arctic Monkeys, who were pretty well established. And they've done it again! I've seen AM a fair few times and have never spent more than £35ish. 50 quid really is quite ridiculous

Well this isn't true. I saw TLSP four times in 2008, once at a festival and three times on their own, including the gig in Liverpool with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Tickets for the two 'normal' gigs were comfortably less than £30, I'd say around £25. I haven't paid less than £25 to see Arctic Monkeys since early 2006, and certainly not from 2008 onwards, since TLSP have been a thing.

The gig I would've gone to in '08 was Hammersmith. Tickets were like £27.50 plus booking fee, which is around what Arctic Monkeys were charging, except they weren't a brand new band.

And my main point was that tickets for this tour are substantially more than I've ever paid to see AM, and I've seen them many times. Though I take the point above about the orchestra, assuming there will be one.
