Does winning the BBC Sound of 2016 pretty much mean Jack Garratt will be there - probably on the John Peel?

I saw Jack Garratt being talked up having done an interview on Breakfast or similar, anyway he came out with stuff like 'I don't put my music into genres, I hope it doesn't alienate people. I want to be inclusive', and I was intrigued. So I listened to a few songs and was really disappointed.

Does his music count as 'experimental' these days? Its probably an unfair comparison but compare it to the latest Bowie album for Christ's sake. Or am I missing something? I know there are modern experimental artists around, but this guy??

This isn't particularly aimed at you by the way, just a general point of discussion! Sorry!

Of course he's not experimental. He's won the BBC Sound Of award, it's essentially "Best Really New Artist" at the Brits.

Tweeted Roni Size and he responded with 'I very much hope so' when asked if he'll be at Glasto. Classed as confirmed?

Sounds hopeful, tho he might just be hoping to get booked as he's actually active on a performing live basis at the mo.

But no, you defo can't count a statement that only says "hoping to play" as confirmed.

If going by Shangri-Las outputs pre festival last year, you can categorically rule them out, they were fucking at it last year

Shangri-La - "We're pleased to announce, Chvrches!"

Chvrches - "What? We're not even in the country over that weekend"

Fingers crossed for The Beat this year was a no show last year for the first time in years always a top performance.

In 2014 they did say in there set that it was going to be there last Glastonbury performance. And when I belive When asked why and they said the festival had strayed from its roots and the political aspect has strayed from the public interest!

'Stand down Margret stand down please, stand down Margret!'

Interesting article on that sort of nonsense:

Yeah I read that. It being a self-fulfilling prophecy is the problem. It's basically a list of who is obviously going to get big rather than any judge of talent. Never mind eh!

I danced so much at their 2014 set that I fell asleep walking back to the tent.

I wondered why they weren't there last year. I was at the 2014 set but missed them saying they weren't coming back :(

It is impossible to stand still whilst watching The Beat!
